Summary

  1. SA 226-3published at 70 overs

You can see the rain falling in the distance but it remains dry at Mangaung Oval.

Good start from Ryana MacDonald-Gay, just a quick single that takes Marizanne Kapp to 49 from it.

The England debutante hits Sune Luus on the pad last ball of the over but the right-hander is saved by an inside edge.

    Thanks, Tim.

The clouds overhead do look particularly ominous but then the ground staff were happy to leave the pitch uncovered over tea so clearly they weren't that concerned that any rain was imminent.

So on we go. Ryana MacDonald-Gay will bowl the first over of the evening session.

England's players are back out on the field.

Bad light and the weather look likely to come into play in the evening session in Bloemfontein, but the covers are off as things stand.

I'll leave you in the capable hands of Sam Drury, who will guide you through the final session come what may.

When you look at the figures, all of England's bowlers has been absolutely fine but Charlie Dean and Lauren Filer are the two that have probably struggled for their rhythm.

There's a couple of gentleman bashing away on bongo-type drums at the Mangaung Oval. Hopefully it's music to deter weather rather than encourage it.

It still looks very threatening in Bloemfontein but so far its stayed dry and the umpires are heading back out to the middle.

In that last session we reached that stage where the England bowlers were asking the umpire to look at the shape of the ball. Nothing's happening, so obviously it must be the ball's fault!

Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp really anchored that session as menacing dark clouds linger over the Mangaung Oval with the floodlights beaming down on the ground.

Luus is 47 not out from 100 balls while Kapp is unbeaten on 48 off 58 deliveries.

Their partnership for the fourth wicket has been worth 87 runs.

South Africa trail by 170 runs.

For me, that is South Africa's session. They were 113-2 at lunch and they have rebuilt really nicely when you consider just how important the wicket of Laura Wolvaardt was from England's point of view.

  9. South Africa 225-3 at teapublished at 69 overs

Sune Luus sees off a maiden from Sophie Ecclestone to reach the interval without further loss.

Sophie Ecclestone has done really well in taking the pace off, which is just giving the ball time to grip and turn. But Sune Luus is playing the line of the ball really well which is keeping her out of trouble for now.

  11. SA 225-3published at 68.3 overs

Sophie Ecclestone covers her eyes with her hands as she twice beats the outside edge of Sune Luus' defensive prods.

Sophie Ecclestone removes the shades under dark skies and will bowl what looks like the last over before the tea break.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that these two look as comfortable as Maia Bouchier and Nat Sciver-Brunt did yesterday afternoon but with each over that goes by, they seem to be growing in confidence.

  14. SA 225-3published at 68 overs

    Kapp 48, Luus 47

Sune Luus has been barnacle-esque to the more demonstrative Marizanne Kapp as both players spy half-centuries. Luus is given some width by Charlie Dean and squirts the off back foot for four.

These two are looking much more comfortable and settled now, Marizanne Kapp has played with very impressive control.

This angle from around the wicket isn't working for Lauren Filer yet.

  16. SA 220-3published at 67 overs

Unfortunately there's no ball-tracking for this series, but I can tell you Marizanne Kapp has been ruthless off her legs in this innings. Lauren Filer continues round the wicket and Kapp drives it comfortably through the on side for four.

You have to feel a little bit sorry for England wicketkeeper Amy Jones. She's taking some up by her head and some down by her ankles. It's going to be a testing day for her with the gloves.

  18. SA 216-3published at 66.2 overs

Marizanne Kapp gets a feather on a delivery down the leg side from Lauren Filer and moves on to 44.

Next ball the South Africa all-rounder ducks out the way of a Filer bouncer.

Sune Luus has steadied the ship for South Africa here. She has got stuck in and she has looked very calm and composed.

  20. SA 212-3published at 66 overs

Marizanne Kapp has her business head on here as she brings up back-to-back boundaries off the bowling of Charlie Dean.

The first is a sumptuous drive through the covers, against the spin, before she dispatches a drag down from the England off-spinner behind square.
