  1. Ire 139-4published at 43 overs

A massive confidence boost as Craig Young picks up the first wicket of the afternoon session. Brian Bennett is off the mark but Ireland will be hoping to stop a potential partnership building.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 27 July

    Williams c Tucker b Young ( 40 Zim 134-4)

There's that breakthrough that Ireland needed! Williams is gone for 40 as he plodded towards a half-century.

He flicks Craig Young's delivery into the grateful gloves of Lorcan Tucker behind. That brings in Brian Bennett.

Catches win matches they say and Ireland have already dropped two this afternoon.

We'll not know until later just how costly they are but Ireland have twice wasted the opportunity to break this dangerous partnership.

  4. Zim 131-3published at 40 overs

A costly over for Craig Young as he gives up 15 runs including three boundaries. Exactly what Zimbabwe needed and what Ireland could scarcely afford.

The travelling support certainly enjoyed that.

  5. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 39 overs

    Zim 116-3

Myers and Williams reach their 50 as a partnership but the former of the two is lucky to still be here as he is put down again.

This time, Lorcan Tucker can't take the catch from close range. Another tough one but Dion Myers is certainly riding his luck.

  6. Zim 113-3published at 37 overs

Barry McCarthy is now 1-25 off 12 overs as he is having a productive day's work. He has Myers flailing at a couple of deliveries as McBrine arrives to give the batsmen a different look.

  7. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 36 overs

    Zim 111-3

Big chance for Matthew Humphreys to take the catch of Dion Myers off McBrine's delivery but he puts it down.

Not the easiest of takes but any time you can gets hands to the ball and don't hold on you're disappointed.

Meanwhile, we've got a light dusting of rain. Let's hope it's just a shower.

  8. Zim 108-3published at 14:07 British Summer Time 27 July

That's a 40-run partnership now between Myers and Williams with the Zimbabwe pair untroubled after lunch.

As the lead grows so will Ireland's concerns and they will be hoping that the afternoon delivers wickets like it did on Thursday and Friday.

  9. Zim 108-3published at 35 overs

Williams and Myers eke out two off an edge from McCarthy's delivery.

We are five overs into this second session that is due to end at 15:55 BST to make up for lost time yesterday.

  10. Zim 105-3published at 34 overs

Two more off McBrine as some ominous clouds start to form on the Upper Newtownards Road...

It's not stopping the Zimbabwe fans from making plenty of noise.

  11. Zim 103-3published at 33 overs

Another excellent scoreless over from McCarthy and another lbw claim but replays show it was missing Myers' off stump.

However, the pace/spin combo of McCarthy and McBrine are making life uncomfortable for Zimbabwe.

  12. Zim 103-3published at 32 overs

Cries of lbw from Barry McCarthy's first ball from the City end are waved away.

  13. Zim 100-3published at 31 overs

The Chevrons hit triple figures in their second innings as Myers and Williams look to build on a promising end to the morning session.

  14. Zim 96-3published at 13:42 British Summer Time 27 July

The players (and press) have been fed and watered and we are back underway at Stormont!

Dare I say it, the sun is peeping through so fingers crossed it stays that way.

A good morning for Ireland with three wickets falling and they trail by 56 runs at lunch.

The game remains in the balance so it's a very important afternoon session coming up.

After a bright morning we now have cloud cover at Stormont and that may have an impact after the break.

  16. Zim 96-3 - LUNCHpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 27 July

Time for a bite to eat at Stormont as Zimbabwe have a relatively productive final over of the first session.

Play will resume in around 40 minutes after a decent morning for the Irish bowlers.

  17. Zim 90-3published at 29 overs

A good second over from McBrine limits Zimbabwe to one as Matthew Humphries enters for the first time today with more spin from the City end.

  18. Zim 89-3published at 28 overs

More good fielding from Ireland prevents the boundary as the Chevrons continue to build a score just before lunch.

  19. Zim 85-3published at 27 overs

A three off McBrine to begin his day's work as Myers is on to 24 and Williams is on 11.

  20. Zim 82-3published at 26 overs

Some good fielding from Barry McCarthy prevents another boundary and holds Williams to two as Andy McBrine will take the ball for the first bit of Irish spin of the day.
