    Rizwan c Taylor b Netravalkar 9 (Pak 9-1)

Whadda catch! I'm telling you now, you won't see a better catch in this tournament. You might not see a better slip catch, full stop.

It's Steven Taylor at a wideish first slip. Angled across Mohammad Rizwan by Saurabh Netravalkar, nipping away, taking the edge. Taylor flies to his right, covering loads of ground and somehow scooping it off the turf.

A bit like Stokes off Broad at Trent Bridge in 2015. Stunning stuff. Great moment.

  2. Pak 9-0published at 1 over

Good start from Pakistan. You'd think this is the real danger period for them, that the biggest chance of an upset is for the US to limit the target. If Pakistan get through these first five or six, they will feel right on top.

It's smart batting from Rizwan because he's worked out that there isn't much turn, the bounce is pretty consistent so the sweep is a pretty safe option for him.

Top boshing. Rizwan gets himself and Pakistan off the mark by slog-sweeping fine for six.

Marcus: Let's not forget Canadian-born (and former Canadian captain!) Nitish Kumar on the list of North American-born players for Team USA. Fun Fact: His middle name is 'Roenick', after US ice hockey legend Jeremy. Doesn't get much more Canadian-American than that!

I'm with Tendo, especially after the movement the Dutch found early at this venue the other day. Having said that, Netherlands spinner Tim Pringle got plenty out of it.

I am really surprised that they are opening with spin. It's a good pitch, but does offer some movement early on.

Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam are in the middle, in the dark green of Pakistan. The US are in blue with red trim. Nosthush Kenjige has the ball for his slow left-arm.

The USA were very good against Canada but Pakistan should outclass them.

However, a home World Cup is a dream for them so it is a huge occasion. They will want to put on a show for their crowd.

Star Spangled Banner is a superb addition to a cricket tournament. A cracking national anthem. I feel like we need Michael Buffer afterwards, announcing the teams, boxing-style.

Get a bit sick of it during the Olympics, mind. Hear it every five minutes.

Decent. It's early in the morning, so I'd expect the ball to swing. When the Netherlands beat Nepal here the other day, the ball often held in the surface, offering a bit for the spinners.

There are two massive flags being held by young volunteers as the teams emerge into the Texas sunshine for the anthems. There are a lot of green Pakistan shirts in the crowd. Good atmos.

Imad Wasim not playing may expose Shadab Khan today. He has been poor recently with both bat and ball.

Other than that, there aren't many weaknesses in Pakistan's side, it's just always about how they play on the day.

You can never write them off.

Want my hot take? It would be very Pakistan to lose today then go on to win the whole thing.

Sticking the 'bigger' side in to bat is the best way to win, so I think USA have made the right choice. It gives you a good foothold in the game, you get to see 20 overs of the pitch and the conditions.

It's not do-or-die for Pakistan yet. They lost to Zimbabwe during last year's T20 World Cup and still went on to make the final, but they have not had great preparation either with their training or the series against England that came before.

There's no Imad Wasim in that Pakistan team, he's still struggling from a side problem. Corey Anderson, the former New Zealand all-rounder, is in the US middle order.
