New Zealand had a bountiful start, but England have got on top of them in the past five overs, including this beauty from Sophie Ecclestone to get rid of Amelia Kerr.

Charlie Dean whistles through an over of off-spin with just three singles take from it.

Halfway through New Zealand's innings and it is time for a quick drinks break.

  2. NZ 65-3published at 9 overs

Has Sarah Glenn dropped one? Actually on second viewing it looks like a bump ball.

Sophie Devine chips the ball straight back to the England leggie, but she palms the ball away.

Three singles off the over. England's spinners are turning the screw.

England have been told to go out there with freedom, and play fearless cricket. New Zealand have tried something similar, but they need to find out what works for them.

  5. NZ 63-3published at 8.1 overs

Sophie Bates made 38 before she was dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone. England are well on top now.

England's premier spin bowler flummoxes Amelia Kerr and bowls her with a beauty which goes between the Kiwi batter's bat and pad. Kerr tentatively played down the wrong line but it was a delivery laced with flight and drift.

    Beautiful bowling.

That's why she is the best in the world.

  9. NZ 62-2published at 7.4 overs

Perhaps I am not giving Sophie Ecclestone enough credit for that dismissal. It was a good comeback after being reverse swept for four.

This is more like it from New Zealand. This is what we wanted to see throughout the series.

But this is where it gets a little bit tricky with Sophie Ecclestone coming on.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7.2 overs

    Bates c Sciver-Brunt b Ecclestone 38 (NZ 57-2)

Sophie Ecclestone into the attack and Suize Bates reverse sweeps her first ball for four.

However, the Kiwi opener tamely chips the England left-arm spinner to Nat Sciver-Brunt at mid-off next ball. A very soft dismissal.

New Zealand will be thrilled with that powerplay.

The big challenge now is spin with the field spread, but they go into it with momentum.

  13. NZ 53-1published at 18:58 British Summer Time 11 July

Sara Glenn's leggies are called up on by Nat Sciver-Brunt but Amelia Kerr wallops her first ball behind square for four.

However, Glenn wrestles the remainder over back her way with just two singles coming from it.

That final over of the powerplay was by far and away the most expensive. England had restricted New Zealand well until that point.

It looks like a little bit of fluency has come back into Suzie Bates' innings now.

  16. NZ 47-1published at 6 overs

Four consecutive fours for Suzie Bates off Freya Kemp at the end of the power play.

The first is a bottom-handed hoick in to the leg side with the next two clubbed down the ground. The final boundary is possibly the most aesthetic as it beats the fielder diving at mid-off.

That is a beautiful shot. Overpitched, but brilliantly put away.

Amelia Kerr looks in terrific touch.

  18. NZ 29-1published at 5 overs

Danielle Gibson starts with three dots which prompts Suzie Bates to dance down the pitch but it's a fresh air shot and the ball shaves a bit of paint off the stumps on its way through to Amy Jones.

Amelia Kerr picks up a boundary off the final delivery of the over as Gibson holds the pace off and it's dispatched to the boundary.

Very good start from Charlie Dean yet again. No wickets as of yet but she is looking to attack the stumps and has a good pace straight away. Right on the money.

  20. NZ 24-1published at 4 overs

Yes, if you're just joining us Heather Knight is sitting this one out with Nat Sciver-Brunt captaining the side. The stand-in skipper brings spinner Charlie Dean into the attack who starts with three dots off her first four balls before Amelia Kerr slog sweeps her into the legs side for four.
