    Target 114

Two slips. Tanzid tickles off the pads to get things under way. This predictor feels generous for Bangladesh.

Here come the openers, into the Big Apple sunshine. Marco Jansen is removing his floppy sunhat, ready to open the bowling. Tanzid Hasan scratches his guard. Najmul Shanto is at the other end.

    Thank you, Michael.

This is ticklish, isn't it? Game on, I reckon.

We've had first-innings scores of 103 and 119 on this particular pitch in New York. South Africa will be disappointed having won the toss and decided to bat first, but I think 113 feels very defendable.

  6. Postpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 10 June

Mixed feelings for South Africa as they head to the dressing room.

They'll have been pleased that they rebuilt from a potentially disastrous 23-4, but they had Miller and Klaasen set only to lose them both late on, scoring just 13 from the final three overs.

Bangladesh are going to play on trickier surfaces. They have a really good shot at qualification here, it's game on.

  8. SA 113-6published at 20 overs

Short again from Mustafizur and Jansen's pull goes straight - the South African batters hustle through two to mid-off.

That's the end of the innings.

  9. SA 111-6published at 19.5 overs

Maharaj partly gets hold of a pull to finally get off a strike.

The single brings Jansen on strike for the final ball of the innings.

  10. SA 110-6published at 19.4 overs

Another big swing and a miss from Maharaj, before Mustafizur offers up a wide to concede the first run of the over.

  11. SA 109-6published at 19.3 overs

Great start to the final over from Mustafizur, sending down three dots to Maharaj.

His first delivery stays just within the tramlines, while the next two beat the bat of the South African as he flails wildly.

  12. SA 109-6published at 19 overs

The two new batters can't find the ropes from the remaining four balls of the over, with Rishad managing two dots as he finishes with figures of 1-32.

That's a big wicket. David Miller could've done serious damage at the end of this innings.

    Miller b Rishad 29 (SA 106-6)

That's the other set batter gone!

David Miller is the fourth man to be bowled, a bit of extra bounce for Rishad and it's enough to beat the South African batter.

Miller, who turns 35 today, departs for 29 off the 38, having played the junior partner role alongside Klaasen.

In comes Keshav Maharaj - he and Jansen will need to get going quickly to finish the innings well.

  15. SA 104-5published at 18 overs

Marco Jansen is the next man in, and almost runs himself out from his first ball, taking a single rather lazily.

Two more singles follow to close the over, as Taskin finishes with a highly respectable 2-19.

Klaasen just asked Miller how he missed it. It was a back of the length delivery but the ball stayed low.

As soon as you start playing aggressive shots it becomes really hard.

  17. wicket

    Klaasen b Taskin 46 (SA 102-5)

    That's the partnership broken!

Klaasen is the third batter bowled in this innings, trying to heave the ball over the mid-wicket. Taskin's ball keeps low again, striking the stumps a little above half way.

The pair put on 69 to rebuild the South African innings.

  18. SA 100-4published at 17 overs

South Africa's hundred comes up from the final ball of the over as Klaasen's shot in the mid-wicket outfield is cut off for a single by the boundary rider.

Klaasen, with an economy of movement and a fair bit of elegance, hits it for six.

A classic bit of Klaasenry as he nonchalantly launches Mahmudullah over long off for six.

Time for South Africa to accelerate.
