That is one of the biggest hits we've seen here straight down the ground by Heinrich Klaasen.

    SA 55-4published at 9.4 overs

That's what Heinrich Klaasen can do to you!

Rishad Hossain changes ends and fizzes another delivery past the bat, but Klaasen picks up the next two, clattering consecutive sixes.

The first goes down the ground, the second is pulled hard over the mid-wicket boundary.

Abdul is originally from Dhaka but now lives in Brooklyn and is part of the Bangladesh diaspora living in New York.

"We can make the Super 8s," he tells me enthusiastically.

"South Africa have some good players but I think today will be our day."

Mustafizur Rahman gets that over spin and good turn that most seamers don't get.

He's very reliable now, clever and knows what he is doing.

  8. SA 37-4published at 8 overs

Klaasen has his first boundary, driving Mustafizur past mid-on and to the ropes.

The South African batters exchange a couple of singles to close the over.

There's a theory - based on scores in the previous two matches - that batting on this pitch should be easier in the first 10 overs, after which time it starts to give the bowlers more assistance.

South Africa look in quite a bit of trouble here.

Their lowest total in T20s is the 87 they scored against India in June 2022, incidentally.

This is where you turn up to see David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen hit it out the park but, it looks like singles are golden here.

  11. SA 31-4published at 7 overs

Spin outside the powerplay as leggie Rishad Hossain comes on for Bangladesh.

David Miller swipes him for four through the leg side, before taking single to bring Heinrich Klaasen on strike.

The South Africa number six sees a ball turn sharply past his bat, before getting off the mark from his eighth ball with a push to long off.

You just feel for the next five overs things will calm down with Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller out there.

  13. SA 25-4published at 6 overs

First bowling change for Bangladesh as Mustafizur Rahman replaces Taskin Ahmed.

He concedes just a single from his over as South Africa finish a very sorry powerplay on 25-4.

What a start for Bangladesh - they've bowled exceptionally well and have used the surface. They have nailed their lines and lengths.

  15. SA 24-4published at 5 overs

Miller gets off the mark, turning the ball to fine leg for a single. He scored an unbeaten 59 against the Netherlands and may need to contribute a similar score here if South Africa are going to set a competitive target.

Meanwhile Tanzim currently has figures of 3-13 with 14 dot balls from his three overs.

Bangladesh have sliced through the top order of South Africa. They are in all sorts of trouble here.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.2 overs

    Stubbs c Shakib b Tanzim 0 (SA 23-4)

Well Stubbs won't be starting anything!

This time Tanzim's ball bounces a little higher than Stubbs anticipated, and he spoons his drive to cover, where Shakib Al Hasan takes the catch diving forwards.

David Miller comes in with another rescue job on his hands.

  18. SA 23-3published at 4 overs

Heinrich Klaasen is the South Africa number four, defending the final ball of the over.

Both batters are on zero, and need to start again here for their country.

I don't understand why they chose to bat first. South Africa are putting themselves in another sticky situation.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.5 overs

    Markram b Taskin 4 (SA 23-3)

They're in even more trouble now!

12-4 against the Netherlands on Saturday, now 23-3 against Bangladesh as Aiden Markram sees his stumps splattered by Taskin.

Angling in, the South African captain tries to work the ball away into mid-wicket but the ball keeps a little low again, striking the top of middle and off.

He'd hit the seamer for four through the covers three balls earlier, but Taskin struck back in style.
