Summary

  1. Ire 79-9published at 15 overs

Ben White comes in at number eleven for Ireland.

He edges to third to get a run from his first ball, that means Ireland have now exceeded Sri Lanka's score at this ground on Monday.

A low full toss from Bumrah, not quite his perfect yorker, but it was fast. Josh Little was trying to drive through the covers and it's gone under his bat.

    Little b Bumrah 14 (Ire 77-9)

Low full toss and crashing into the base of the stumps!

Josh Little tried to smear Bumrah through the covers but he's beaten for pace.

India are one wicket away from finishing this innings.

Things have been ever so slightly easier since the spinners came on. In the weird and wonderful way of cricket, these two have held the Ireland innings together.

  5. Ire 73-8published at 14 overs

Ravindra Jadeja is introduced into the attack and Little ensures Ireland pass their lowest T20 total by reverse sweeping the left-armer's second ball for four.

    Small crumbs of comfort...

It's just all-out aggression from Ireland at the moment, every ball is being greeted by a slog.

It's entertaining for now but I don't see how they're going to bat out the overs this way. Ireland have been architects of their own destruction in many ways, with some of the shots.

There's been no assessment of the conditions since Harry Tector's wicket. It makes you wonder whether they were watching his innings.

  7. Ire 66-8published at 13 overs

Four more, for Little this time, slapping the ball back down the ground past mid-on.

He almost picks up another the next ball, but this time Rohit chases the ball down from mid-off to restrict Ireland to two.

The Irish tail continues to play really aggressively - they're here for a good-ish time, if not for, most probably, a long time.

  8. 6 runs

    Ire 58-8published at 12.1 overs

    Lifted away over square!

Delany wallops Hardik away for a big six to give Irish fans in the stands a little bit of joy.

Mark Pettman: This wicket for I, externalreland v India is horrendous. Barely playable.

  10. Ire 52-8published at 12 overs

Josh Little gets off the mark with a bold reverse sweep from his first ball.

We then have a check on a stumping on Gareth Delany, but he's dragged his foot back far enough.

A marvellous catch but it's from a soft defensive prod this time!

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.2 overs

    McCarthy c & b Patel 0 (Ire 50-8)

First sight of spin from India in the 12th over - and Axar has a wicket with his second ball.

A six ball duck for McCarthy, offering up an edge that Axar does very well to scoop up for the caught and bowled.

Wicket maiden for Hardik as McCarthy hacks and scuffs at the India seamer.

No sign of the Ireland batter trying to eek out his side's overs - although it would help if he connected with a few.

  15. Ire 49-7published at 10.2 overs

Barry McCarthy survives the hat-trick ball, just about blocking out the ball.

There's a bit of excitement at the other end as Ravindra Jadeja collects the ball and fires at the stumps in an attempt to run Gareth Delany out.

It's remarkable. I'm not sure what the thinking is.

He's slashing hard at a wide ball outside off stump when he's only faced two balls and considering the match situation.

That's another very poor shot. Not the shot at all for this situation.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 5 June

    Adair c Dube b Hardik 3 (Ire 49-7)

    Hardik's on a hat-trick!

He picked up a wicket with the last ball of the previous over and with the first ball of the new one he picks up Mark Adair.

The batter steps back but then finds himself stretching at an uppish cut - little wonder he doesn't get hold of it, and the ball flies to Shivam Dube running in from point.

It's been a remarkable first session. 46-6 doesn't tell the full story.

We knew it would be an important toss to win because both captains were itching to bowl first. It has been very, very difficult to bat on.

At times, Ireland have been over-aggressive. I'm not sure they paid enough attention to Sri Lanka's match at this ground the other day when swinging for the ropes just isn't the way to go because you don't need 150 on this pitch.

But, India have bowled brilliantly and executed the conditions perfectly.

Ireland are in full collapse mode - the pitch is difficult to bat on but there's also been some poor shots.

Mark Adair is the next man to the middle and he's a powerful hitter, with 32 maximums to his name in T20s.

Seconds later and he's also gone.
