  1. England beaten by epic Australia chase in Lahorepublished at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

That's your lot, folks, after a brilliant game in Lahore ended with a disappointing defeat for England.

Josh Inglis was the star for Australia as they chased down a record total in an ICC tournament - and you can read all about it in Matthew Henry's report.

Jos Buttler's side will likely have to win both their remaining group games against Afghanistan and South Africa to progress to the semi-finals so the pressure is already on!

They've got until Wednesday to regroup ahead of that Afghanistan match but Champions Trophy action continues tomorrow with the big one - India versus Pakistan in Dubai.

We'll be back for that one from 08:45 GMT so make sure you join us then!

It's obviously a tough rebuilding period for England. They've come here today and seemed to have made reasonable progress by putting a good total on the board but there's a lot to be done, especially on the field.

You've got to try and make use of what you've got and I don't think they did that here today.

I think that this was a really disappointing day for England. To get a good total on the board when they've been struggling, it felt defendable.

If it had been a confident team, they probably would've been all right but that was a game from a team that's used to losing.

  5. 'I'm really pleased with our performance'published at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

Australia captain Steve Smith: "Travis [Head] and I are the only two that missed out on batting. I'm really pleased with our performance.

"I think regardless of what team we had, we would've bowled first. It looked easy to bat, it slowed up a bit throughout the day. We thought 350 was chaseable. At one point it looked like they were going to get 400 so pleased that we were able to limit them.

"It's about just trusting each other's skills. The boys did a good job, took the pace off at the right time. We're pleased with the way we could pull it back and chase 350.

"The two keepers [Josh Inglis and Alex Carey] have been batting beautifully for a while now. They're in good form and I'm glad that they could play a crucial role here today."

I hope the fact that England lost doesn't damage the view of Ben Duckett's innings. Today he didn't make any rash decisions or rushed shots. He must take some real heart from that innings and take that as his go to innings.

That's the best I've seen him play for England.

It was a high class innings from England. We always talk about tempo in ODIs and it was Ben Duckett who played a real game of class. He read the game, played the low risk shots and showed real maturity.

  8. 'Duckett has been threatening that for a long time'published at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

England captain Jos Buttler: "It was a fantastic game, I thought we both played really well. We put up a good score but credit to Australia. Well done to Josh Inglis. 350 is a pretty good score, it was a little bit wet and that was always a worry."

On Ben Duckett: "He played brilliantly. He's been brilliant at the top of the order and played effectively at the start of the game. He's been threatening to do that for a long time. I'm delighted for him but it's a shame it was in a losing cause.

"I think we've all played enough cricket to know that getting 100 is what you need to do to help win. When you get that momentum and build partnerships, people are going to get high scores. Root and Duckett did that for us today.

"I think the guys bowled really well today. It was about breaking the partnership of Carey and Inglis early, but credit to the opposition.

"I believe in the guys and have optimism. To put 350 on the board is a great start and if we keep doing that, we won't come second too often."

Spare a thought for Ben Duckett, who made a magnificent 165 from 143 balls and ended up on the losing side.

England pace attack missed their lengths often today. Australia scored heavily when offered anything full or short.

Across the innings, they've bowled only 31% on good length (6-8m) while they went full with 23% and 46% deliveries short of good length.

    England pace attack - today

    • Full Deliveries - 23% deliveries, 0 wickets, 8.8 rpo
    • Good Length - 31% deliveries, 2 wickets, 5.0 rpo
    • Short Deliveries - 46% deliveries, 1 wicket, 9.9 rpo

I think it's harsh to criticise the total that England got. If we look at the bowling line up, they've only really got one specialist spinner.

They've got Livingstone and Root who did OK but can't be expected to dominate like a specialist spinner would.

  12. 'Really pumped'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

Player of the match Josh Inglis: "It's a great win. I am over the moon. We knew it was going to be tough coming up against England. It always is. Coming up against 350 a lot of things have to go right to chase that down. Really pumped on a personal level, but for the guys out there it's a great performance.

"What was said at the halfway stage? There wasn't too much at the half-time. We'd done a lot of talking before the game. We knew the second half here was going to be tough with all the dew - it's quite wet now - and the wicket skidded on nicely. It was always going to be better for us batting second.

"Alex [Carey] doesn't really say anything when he bats, so it's just cracking on with it and a few words here and there. I was honestly just trying to not look at the scoreboard too much.

"I thought we were going so well I was just trying to keep chipping away at it. We knew with Glenn Maxwell in the shed if we didn't leave him too much to bat, get him in the last 10 overs, there would always a chance.

"This gives us a lot of confidence in a short sharp tournament. To go one from one is really important. We'll recover and look forward to the next game."

On England picking four frontline bowlers: "I still their part-time options were very handy. Liam Livingstone and Joe Root have bowled a lot in international cricket. You cannot not respect their bowling. I was just trying to tick over the win spin and be proactive, then with pace at the end it would skid on nicely."

  13. Who is Josh Inglis?published at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

Josh Inglis was born in Leeds in 1995 to English parents - Martin and Sarah - and moved to Perth, in January 2010 when the family emigrated to Australia.

Inglis had turned out for Yorkshire for four seasons at Under-11 and Under-14 level when he lived in the UK. He previously acknowledged that "as a kid growing up in England, I obviously supported England".

He made his T20 debut for Australia against Sri Lanka in February 2022 and an ODI debut against the same opposition followed in June that year.

Inglis made his first Test appearance against Sri Lanka in January 2025 series victory - scoring a maiden hundred in the format on debut.

England will be disappointed with how they played. There was moments in the game where it was theirs to take but they let it slip, Australia took over and then dictated the game.

Unsurprisingly, Josh Inglis is named player of the match for his fabulous unbeaten 120 from 86 balls.

The Australia wicketkeeper-batter says he's "over the moon" after his match-winning century in a record-breaking chase.

We'll have more from Inglis - and both captains - shortly.
