  1. Aus 207-4published at 31.2 overs

It doesn't take much to bring the pessimists out...

I'm not sure about dross or Australia winning at a canter. It's just been an excellent match on a very good batting surface. It could still go either way.

Brydon Carse is back and sees his second ball - a horrible short, wide one - slapped over cover for four by Alex Carey.

A bit of dross bowling in these middle overs giving Australia hope. Discipline needed.

    Stevo

This is what England don't have at the moment; dominant mid order batsmen. The Aussies will chase this total down at a canter.

    Martin

Aussies will win this in a canter. England should have got 380 to 400 considering Duckett scored almost half that.

That's probably the first bad ball that Mark Wood has bowled in a while. He's kept his length extremely well today.

Rapid from Mark Wood and the ball stays low as well to hammer into Josh Inglis' shins.

England go up as one for the lbw but the umpire shakes his head. No review taken in the end and that's a good call, it was angling just down leg.

The England fast bowler then strays on the pads of Inglis and is whipped away through mid-wicket for four.

More bad news for England: dew is starting to form on the outfield.

This partnership is looking incredibly threatening, they've made England question their bowling and change it up.

I think England are still the favourites to win though.

Alex Carey is one of those rare left-handers who averages better against off-spin than wrist spinners.

In ODIs since the start of 2022, Carey averages 55 v off-spinners compared to 20 v wrist spinners.

Livingstone would do well bowling more of his leg-breaks to Carey than his off-breaks, or deploying Rashid back into the attack would be the best way to attack the left-hander.

  7. Aus 197-4published at 30 overs

Drag down from Joe Root to start the over and Josh Inglis goes back and drills it through the gap on the off side for four.

The England part-time spinner comes back well, though, with just three more coming from the next five balls.

With 20 overs remaining, this game is delicately poised. England still have the edge but Australia are certainly not out of it.

Alex Carey and Josh Inglis run well. They know how to turn those ones into twos.

This partnership has transformed the feeling of the game very quickly. They look very confident.

England need a wicket from somewhere.

  10. Aus 190-4published at 29 overs

Five good balls in Mark Wood's first over back, immediately clocking in excess of 90mph.

But after just two from the first five deliveries, he offers Alex Carey a hint of width last ball and the left-hander flashes it past backward point for four.

The good news for England is that Jofra Archer is back out there.

And just like that, here is Mark Wood.

I think it's time for Mark Wood now.

This could be a very dangerous partnership.

  14. Aus 184-4published at 28 overs

Slight concern for England as Jofra Archer calls for the physio while he's out on the boundary.

The physio then gestures for someone to bring a drink over so hopefully it is just a little bit of cramp and he'll be OK to bowl when required later in the innings.

Whatever the issue, Archer is going to head off the field for now. Meanwhile, Australia take eight from Joe Root's latest in ones and twos.

That was a good one. It went straight through everyone and everything.

    Where was Jamie Smith?

  16. Aus 176-4published at 27 overs

    How did that miss?!

Josh Inglis plays all around a ball from Liam Livingstone that skids on but somehow it misses leg stump and goes away for four byes.

Livingstone and wicketkeeper Jamie Smith cannot believe it.

It's an expensive over with 15 from it in total.

That's a serious shot, he's hit that effortlessly.

It looks like Australia have decided it is time to target Liam Livingstone.

Josh Inglis gets straight into him at the start of this over, advancing down the track and thumping the ball over long on with ease.

  19. Aus 161-4published at 26 overs

Thanks, Tim. England are sticking with spin for now as Joe Root continues into his second over.

It's a very tidy one, just five singles from it.

  20. Postpublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time

How long with England persist with spin?

It's finely poised at the moment with Glenn Maxwell still to come.

The tension is getting to me so time for Sam Drury to take the tiller for the remainder of Australia's chase.
