Drinks break - Ind 149-1published at 19 overs

    Target 305

A trio of singles from Jamie Overton's second over.

India will be the happier side at drinks and you suspect neither Rohit Sharma nor Virat Kohli will be fazed by that quiet over.

India look like they are just meandering along until you notice it’s at eight an over! Under five an over required now!

  3. Ind 146-1published at 18 overs

Virat Kohli gets off the mark with a four straight down the ground. A textbook drive.

  4. Ind 141-1published at 17.1 overs

I'd like to revise my earlier statement...

The doom and gloom continue while Rohit Sharma is in the middle. Gus Atkinson goes short and is deservedly punished. Four more.

  5. Ind 137-1published at 17 overs

    Target 305

With two boundaries and two wides, it would be a stretch to call Jamie Overton's first over a success.

But, he did bag the wicket of Shubman Gill with a really lovely delivery. Maybe it's not all doom and gloom for England just yet...

The lesser-spotted yorker. A peach from Overton.

    Breakthrough for England!

Shubman Gill struck two of Jamie Overton's first three legal deliveries for four but the bowler bounces back with an excellent yorker.

Gill departs for 60. Enter Virat Kohli.

Only two out of the 17 overs bowled so far hasn't seen a boundary with one of them being in the first over of the innings. Runs are leaking too quickly for England here.

  10. Ind 131-0published at 16.1 overs

Jamie Overton comes into the attack for England... Shubman Gill glances him for four. Oh dear.

  11. Ind 127-0published at 16 overs

    Target 305

Gus Atkinson returns to the attack for England.

He starts tidily enough with a dot and a single to Shubman Gill but sure enough, Rohit Sharma is onto him quickly with a pulled four.

A lot of tinkering with the field from Jos Buttler but it makes no difference. Rohit hits the final delivery for six.

This is sublime, controlled batting from the Indian openers. They’ve put away any lapses of length from the England bowlers without taking many risks.

A couple of boundaries and a single and Shubman Gill joins his captain in scoring a half-century.

It's described on comms as "relaxed" but he only needed 45 balls to get there. Slow compared to Rohit Sharma but no slouch.

    India are in complete control.

Did someone say we were going to lose by 7 wickets? So would they like to say where those 3 wickets are going to come from please?

Boom. Excellent footwork from Rohit Sharma as he dispatches Mark Wood through extra cover for four.

India don't seem at all bothered by Wood's 140kph+ deliveries.

  18. Ind 100-0published at 13.3 overs

Shubman Gill brings up India's 100 with a four off Mark Wood.

  19. Ind 96-0published at 13 overs

When he gets it right, Adil Rashid is causing India's batters a few issues. He's getting some turn and finishes the over with a slower delivery which goes under Rohit Sharma's bat.

But every over, England are gifting India a boundary ball.

  20. Ind 96-0published at 12.3 overs

Rohit Sharma is making batting look very easy.

Adil Rashid bowls too short and Rohit cuts it away for four. That felt almost inevitable.
