Liam Livingstone is changing things up with his bowling. He is mainly bowling the off-spinner to the left-hander and the leg-spinner to the right-hander to turn it away from the bat.

He tries to make it challenging and mix it up.

  2. Brave 40-0published at 65 balls

    Target 107

Southern Brave's openers are running very smartly here. Four of Liam Livingstone's five deliveries are scoring shots, with James Vince calling for two off each of the latter two.

  3. Brave 35-0published at 69 balls

    Target 107

Ooooh we nearly had a boundary there. Will Smeed has to put in a full length dive to deny James Vince.

    Brave run three.

James Vince knows this ground like the back of his hand so he won't be panicking about the lack of boundaries. This is just a pitch you have to invest time in and give yourself a few balls.

Smart batting is looking for ones when there aren't boundaries to find and that way you keep your team ticking over.

  5. Brave 32-0published at 70 balls

    Target 107

Benny Howell and his bag of tricks enter the bowling attack. He looked a little ginger when he was batting but there are no issues as he sends down his first set.

    Four singles for Brave.

    Here comes captain Liam Livingstone.

With Birmingham Phoenix on course for another loss. They need to start looking at their personnel. Is their batting line-up working?

Dan Mousley looks like a good young talent. Is he batting too low? He seems to always be coming in to do a repair job.

  7. Brave 28-0published at 75 balls

    Target 107

James Vince and Leus du Plooy tick off another three singles before du Plooy flays Tim Southee away for four to finish the powerplay in style.

Phoenix lost three wickets in the two sets following the powerplay. They'll be hoping Brave suffer a similar fate.

There is grip and turn out there for the bowlers. Birmingham Phoenix have gone seamer friendly in their team make-up which favours pitches in the Midlands and up North where there is a bit more juice.

If I was Liam Livingstone, I would be thinking about bringing myself into the attack.

  9. Brave 21-0published at 80 balls

    Target 107

Adam Milne enters the bowling attack and restricts Brave to three singles.

The home side won't mind. The required rate is only a smidge above a run a ball.

  10. Superchargers 28-0published at Rockets v Superchargers

    Target 129

Davina Perrin is off to a flyer for Northern Superchargers.

The 18-year-old opener has just flat-batted the ball back over Alexa Stonehouse's head for her fifth boundary of the innings already.

It's down to 101 needed from 80 balls for the away side at Trent Bridge.

James Vince is joining the party. That ball raced along this carpet-like outfield.

These two are making this chase look relatively easy.

  12. Brave 18-0published at 85 balls

    Target 107

Despite picking up those two boundaries, Leus du Plooy is looking a bit skittish. He has his edge beaten by Trent Boult and then fails to connect with a short ball which greets him around head height before scampering a single.

James Vince, who started the set with a single, finishes it with a four, pulling a short ball away to the rope.

  13. Brave 12-0published at 90 balls

    Target 107

Eight runs off the set. Southern Brave are ticking along.

Leus du Plooy is trying to hit Tim Southee off his lengths, he is not put off by that previous review.

Birmingham Phoenix need to contain Southern Brave and pressure them into making a mistake.

  15. Brave 12-0published at 92 balls

    Target 107

And Leus du Plooy follows up that minor scare with back-to-back fours.

The first is a touch streaky but the second is a hefty heave through third off a wider delivery from Tim Southee.

  16. Not outpublished at 94 balls

There's a spike on UltraEdge. Carry on batting, Leus.

It looks to me like bat was involved. Just a scratch.

  18. Phoenix reviewpublished at 94 balls

Birmingham Phoenix send a possible lbw against Leus du Plooy upstairs.

Their players were all quite keen but the umpire gave a firm shake of his head.

A big ask for Birmingham Phoenix here. They have to take 10 wickets if they want a chance of winning.

This wicket has not been that bad, it's what you'd expect this year with a dry summer. You just need to invest a little bit of time on it.
