Pakistan have not run away in this game, but that partnership between Saud Shakeel and Naseem Shah just frustrated England.

They would've liked to take a couple more wickets in that first session, but they've only manged to get two. Pakistan will probably come out after lunch and look to kick things on.

It's been some time since Pakistan's last run but Saud Shakeel ends the drought but pulling Gus Atkinson away for four.

England want him playing that shot with catchers waiting in the ring on the leg side.

The left-hander gets a toe-end to square leg before pulling the last delivery just short of leg gully - and that's lunch.

Frustrating as it was for so long, it is ultimately a decent morning for England. They've taken two wickets for just 69 runs.

Jack Leach rattles through a maiden in a matter of seconds and, somehow, they are going to get another over in.

    Gus Atkinson will bowl it.

Jack Leach will bowl what is almost certainly to be the last over of the morning session.

England have had 13 catches taken off pacers in that leg-side catching position (leg slip, short leg, short fine leg) in the Bazball era.

The next highest team on the list is New Zealand with just three such dismissals.

  6. Pak 393-6published at 110 overs

Another maiden for Gus Atkinson as Saud Shakeel plays in the manner of someone who wants to make absolutely sure he's still batting after lunch.

The left-hander has batted nicely but added just 28 runs to his total in this session.

That was Muhammad Rizwan's first score under 25 runs since England were last in Pakistan when he finished the series with seven in Karachi.

He's played nine innings across five Tests since then and reached 25 in all of them, averaging over 70 in those games. So a rare failure there for Rizwan.

  8. Pak 393-6published at 109 overs

Salman Agha walks in with England, after a largely disappointing morning session, now in a position where they will believe they can keep Pakistan to around 450.

There is still plenty of work to do but that giveaway from Muhammad Rizwan was a real bonus.

I was just thinking Muhammad Rizwan loves to go down the ground and he hits the ball straight to mid-off. It's such a poor dismissal in Test match cricket, especially just before the lunch.

    A gift for England!

After 11 balls without getting off the mark, Muhammad Rizwan tries to get after Jack Leach.

He doesn't get hold of it at all, though, and offers a straightforward catch to Chris Woakes at mid-off.

England squeezed him well but that was a needless shot. The tourists won't care, mind.

England spinners have not managed to get anything out of this surface. There's no spin, no anything!

England need to think what is each batter's weakness and how they play when they come to the crease.

You've got a new batter in Muhammad Rizwan and if you've watched him play, you'll know he is a bit of an lbw candidate.

  12. Pak 392-5published at 108 overs

Brydon Carse's spell ended with that wicket-taking over and Gus Atkinson is back into the attack.

It's a maiden over from the England seamer as he keeps Muhammad Rizwan honest early in his innings.

The change of angle does the trick for Brydon Carse who bowled only one delivery around the wicket to Naseem Shah prior to his dismissal.

Credit to him for bowling at an average speed of 137.9 kph (85.7 mph) today, his second-fastest spell of the six spells that he has bowled in this innings so far.

  14. Pak 392-5published at 107 overs

That's the spirit, Chris. Got to keep a positive mindset...

Four from Jack Leach's over as Saud Shakeel sweeps hard last ball and finds the gap for his seventh boundary.

This looks like one of those wickets where the opposition scores 700 and England think the track is dead, play overly aggressively, and fall to 70-5.

It's always a special moment in a player's career - their first-ever Test wicket. And he's had to wait a long time as well, Brydon Carse. It's 18.4 overs into his career, but he's managed to get his first wicket.

  17. Pak 388-5published at 106 overs

Good over, a successful over, for Brydon Carse.

He stays round the wicket to new batter Muhammad Rizwan, who gets himself into a bit of a tangle first up.

One ball is all it takes for him to get to grips with the surface and he is solidly behind the next one.

Naseem Shah's little cameo comes to an end. He's played a very valuable role for Pakistan here but England finally have their fifth wicket after an irritating partnership.

England fans are enjoying that in the crowd.

Brydon Carse has his first Test wicket! A breakthrough at last for England.

The debutant attacks from round the wicket, Naseem Shah tries to flick if off his hip but can only help the ball into the hands of Harry Brook at leg slip.

A Test best score for Naseem and a very useful knock for Pakistan in a stand of 64 with Saud Shakeel.

Now England have got one, can they nip out another before lunch?

  20. Pak 388-4published at 105 overs

If you're just waking up in England, the bad news is that Ollie Pope's side have yet to take a wicket on day two.

The better news is that it's less than half an hour until lunch and we can all take a break and come back refreshed for the afternoon session - the England bowlers are probably looking forward to that more than most.

You're still thinking about the bad news, aren't you?
