Anyway, Salman Ali Agha finishes unbeaten on 104 from 119 balls. A superb knock for him.

It was only really when he was left with number 11 Abrar Ahmed that he suddenly seemed unsure how to play it. Before that he was excellent.

There is a certain player in the team who has 90-odd score whilst opening the batting in Test matches…

I'd say it is now highly unlikely that Ben Duckett will open the batting for England.

Who will open in his place? We won't have to wait too long to find out.

Ben Duckett has caught it but he's definitely hurt his thumb though. He's waving towards the dressing room and he's hiding it. This could be difficult - one of England's openers might not be able to bat. Oh dear!

A bouncer works - for the spinner!

It's not all good news for England, though, as Ben Duckett looks to have done himself some damage in taking the catch at slip.

Joe Root banged it in short, Abrar Ahmed tried to guide it away but puts it into the hands of Duckett.

Well, more accurately, onto the end of the thumb of Duckett and he looks in real pain.

England's pacers have bowled 104 bouncers in this innings without any wicket off it. Only three times has a team bowled more bouncers in an innings without any success from that length in the ball-tracking era (since 2007).

  9. Pak 553-9published at 148 overs

Pakistan have done their best to end their own innings but England have managed to keep it going.

After so long in the field, they are starting to look very weary.

In the last five minutes, we've had some of the worst cricket I've seen in a while. Gus Atkinson gets into position and then completely misses it. He's got to be catching that.

    Abrar Ahmed gets another life.

He top-edges a sweep shot, the ball goes a long way up but Gus Atkinson can't take the catch as it drops over his shoulder at mid-wicket.

It was a tired effort from Atkinson. Jack Leach is denied a fourth wicket.

  12. Pak 550-9published at 147 overs

The innings should be over but Abrar Ahmed is still there and it's back over to Salman Ali Agha.

What can the set batter do against Jack Leach?

There is little to be gained by nudging a single an over at this stage.

Jamie Smith has missed out on a regulation stumping. Abrar Ahmed was miles away from the wicket. That was a stinger.

    Oh dear.

That's a shocker from Jamie Smith.

Abrar Ahmed comes charging down the track to Joe Root, misses and doesn't even try to get back.

But Smith, who has been excellent with the gloves thus far in his Test career, fumbles it and a slightly surprised Abrar gets back.

I'm not overly concerned about Eng conceding close to 600 on an absolute road - it happens. I'm just worried about their win at all costs mentality. When we bat we should just try to do exactly what Pak have done, maybe even slower. I fear that because they aren't interested in draws they will try to score 800 in 2 days and end up losing a Test in which they should have just accepted a draw.

  16. Pak 549-9published at 146 overs

Abrar Ahmed comes in at number 11 and tries to hoist Jack Leach over long on first up.

It's the shot of a tailender but he does get enough on it to clear Zak Crawley at mid-on.

Salman Ali Agha has absolutely no interest in the single, though. He'll keep strike.

Is there a wave from the Pakistan dressing room? I don't think there is, so there will be more to come.

    Bowled 'im.

Shaheen Afridi saw Salman Ali Agha through to his hundred and with that job done, has an ugly swipe across the line.

He missed, Jack Leach hit to get his third wicket and England need just one more to wrap up the innings.

That's 100 off 108 balls. It's been a mix of poise to manipulate the field and power with three sixes in that innings. Salman Ali Agha has given all the momentum to Pakistan.

A wonderful knock from the 30-year-old, getting to three figures from 108 balls.
