Best and most destructive batting lineup in the world, best bowlers in the world and Mark Wood and Jofra Archer still to come back. This World Cup is going to be an absolute procession.

    Russ, Maidenhead

  2. NZ 112-6published at 13 overs

Black Caps skipper Mitchell Santner is off the mark with a dashing biff through the covers, and he ends the over with a four with a juicy punch through the same area.

New Zealand need 125 runs off 42 balls to win.

  3. wicket

    Mitchell c Salt b Rashid 9 (NZ 104-6)

The predominantly New Zealand-supporting crowd are a well and truly flat as the wickets continue to tumble against England's spinners.

Daryl Mitchell had struck the first ball of Adil Rashid's over for four down the ground, but is dismissed after slog sweeping the wily England leggie into the hands of Phil Salt at deep mid-wicket.

This match could well peter out as a contest now.

  4. NZ 100-5published at 12 overs

    Target 237

A rare boundary conceded by Liam Dawson as Jimmy Neesham slog sweeps him for four.

It feels like England's game to lose from here.

England are benefitting from playing four wicketkeepers, all five catches taken by regular wicket keepers, albeit only one with the gloves tonight.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.2 overs

    Bracewell c Banton b Dawson 2 (NZ 94-5)

New Zealand feeling the scoreboard pressure and are unravelling against England's spinners.

Michael Bracewell decides to take on Liam Dawson but slaps it straight into the hands of Tom Banton who slides on his knees to take a good catch.

  7. NZ 94-4published at 11 overs

No boundaries for 12 deliveries at the end of Adil Rashid's over. England are on top here.

  8. dropped catch

Mitchell dropped on threepublished at 10.5 overs

Tossed up by Adil Rashid and Daryl Mitchell chips it back to him.

Goalkeeper-esque Rashid can only tip it over the bar.

With that wicket of Mark Chapman, Liam Dawson averages 15.40 against left-handed batters in T20Is. This doubles to 30.58 against right-handers

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.2 overs

    Seifert c Cox b Rashid 39 (NZ 91-4)

    England's spinners turning the screw!

Adil Rashid, this time, tempts Tim Seifert to go after a wide one and Kiwi batter slog sweeps across the line and it goes high into the night sky.

Jordan Cox is once again as safe as houses down at long on and safely pouches the catch.

  11. NZ 90-3published at 10 overs

Liam Dawson carrying himself with a real down-to-business manner as he goes through the rest of the over.

Just four runs conceded from it.

    Solid stuff.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.1 overs

    Chapman c Cox b Dawson 28 (NZ 87-3)

Smart bowling from Liam Dawson who backs up an impressive opening over with a wicket from the first ball of his second.

Dawson slides it wide of off stump but holds just enough pace off the delivery to tempt Mark Chapman to swipe across the line.

The left-handed Chapman cannot get the distance and Jordan Cox gets down low to take good low catch at long-on.

  13. NZ 86-2published at 9 overs

Tim Seifert fails to capitalise on the extra delivery - though not from want of trying having thrown the kitchen sink at it.

  14. 6 runs

    NZ 86-2published at 8.5 overs

The Sam Curran slower slow ball flummoxes Mark Chapman who was winding up for a big hit but can only scramble a single. I feel we need a name for his Curran delivery.

However, he gets a delivery horribly wrong sending down a high full toss - chalked up as a no-ball - which Tim Seifert hammers into the stands.

England seamers found a lot more swing in the powerplay today. New Zealand averaged 0.6° with the new ball, where as England averaged 1.1°.

  16. NZ 75-2published at 8 overs

More spin in the form of Liam Dawson.

The left-arm spinner, who has bags of T20 franchise experience, mixes his pace up and lines intelligently to temper the scoring.

His fourth delivery is a yorker which Mark Chapman does well to dig out.

Five runs off the over, but crucially no boundaries.

  17. 6 runs

    NZ 70-2published at 7 overs

    Out the ground!

Tim Seifert plonks his foot down the pitch and uses his bottom hand to heave Adil Rashid out the Hagley Oval with a slog sweep.

    New ball, please.

Adil Rashid is summoned by Harry Brook. He starts with a dot and two singles.

New Zealand keeping pace with England as far as the worm is concerned.

  19. 6 runs

    NZ 60-2published at 6 overs

    Have a bit of that!

Sam Curran's final ball of the over is right in the slot for Mark Chapman, who biffs it back over the England left-arm seamer's head for New Zealand's first six of the innings.

  20. NZ 54-2published at 5.5 overs

    Sam Curran into the attack.

It's not particularly pretty from Tim Seifert as he waits before slogging a slower ball from Curran to the fence for four. Plenty of bottom hand on that.

Curran bounces Seifert later in the over as he goes through his repertoire of variations.

England skipper Harry Brook still looks in chipper spirits as he tweaks the field.
