Harry Brook slaps it away. That's a magnificent shot and it goes for six. He pummels it and there's a bit of wrist in that as well.

I know it's an experiment but Smith belongs at 6 or 7. Leave him there where he is best. Jacks should open given he's played there more. England have a reputation of promoting players that do well down the order. Leave them where they play best!!!

    Target 309

Joe Root gets up and running with his first boundary of the afternoon, picking a gap at mid-wicket for four.

However, there is a slight heart in mouth moment to end the over as Harry Brook lofts the ball into the air. It lands safely.

Getting another wicket in these opening 10 overs feels crucial for West Indies. They can't afford to let Root and Brook settle.

Jamie Smith made 16, nine and zero batting at three in the Champions Trophy and now 37 and 0 as an opener in this series so far.

Earlier on I sent a message saying Duckett was one of the best all-format batsmen in the world. Apologies for that, Ben.

Harry Brook flicks an effortless four off his hips. He looks quite unflustered by England's start.

A couple of singles with a wide sandwiched in between help England into double figures.

Jamie Smith was elevated to number three in the Champions Trophy and now he's an opener, and this assumption that you can stick him anywhere and he'll be good enough, I'm not sure.

In white ball cricket Smith's had a pretty rough time of it.

There's a really different feel to what we had at Edgbaston.

    We're set up beautifully here.

What a lovely opportunity for Brook to score his first Captain's innings. Good luck!

Wides aside (there's been one in each of the opening three overs), this has been an excellent start from West Indies.

Thinking back to Saqib Mahmood's earlier summoning of the sawdust bucket, the pile at Jayden Seales' end is wide and flat. More shield volcano than composite cone.

I know Smith got plaudits for how he played on Thursday - but he was thrashing and almost edging at the first few balls, this wicket isn’t surprising.

England lose openers Smith and Duckett for ducks in first two overs

Only the fifth time both English openers have been dismissed for a duck in men's ODIs. The last instance was against Australia in Adelaide in 2018, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow were the openers on that occasion. England lost three of those games and won one.

Jacob Bethell was spotted signing autographs at the innings break.

Right now, he's probably hurriedly fastening his pads in the changing rooms.

England have lost two early wickets and at the end of the second over, Harry Brook nearly barbecued Joe Root by dashing through for a quite needless single.

Captain Harry Brook is immediately off the mark with a boundary, stepping forward to Forde and guiding the ball through the covers.

That will settle a few English nerves.

Ben Duckett can only skew it and it balloons all the way to the fielder.

West Indies talked about not setting the tone well with the ball [at Edgbaston] but they have with the bat today, and now with the ball.

    Duckett c Seales b Forde 0 (2-2)

Ben Duckett also departs for a duck! That's both of England's openers back in the shed inside two overs.

It's an ugly hack from Duckett and Jayden Seales is perfectly placed at deep third to take a routine catch. Game well and truly on.
