  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 18 April

    Bairstow lbw b Raine 22 (Durham v Yorks 137-4)

Jonny Bairstow is not happy with that one but it looked a pretty good shout from Ben Raine.

The Yorkshire skipper was looking very much in the mood at a ground where he has both a double hundred (for Yorks) and his career best ODI score (for England).

But he will not be bettering anything here, struck on the back pad (height perhaps the cause of his chuntering as he walks off) and gone for a barnstorming 22.

  2. 50 runs

for Whartonpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 18 April

    Durham v Yorks 137-3

And that is a nice way to bring up your half century, James Wharton pinging a perfect cover drive off Matthew Potts for four and holding the pose for a second or two.

Yorkshire look in the mood after lunch.

  3. 'Waite has his reward'published at 14:42 British Summer Time 18 April

    Essex 117-6 v Worcestershire

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Hereford & Worcestershire

Matthew Waite has threatened and threatened and he's absolutely pumped because he has his reward and Noah Thain departs.

Essex are in quite a bit of trouble on day one here at Chelmsford with six wickets falling.

    Terrfic bowling by Waite.

    Thain lbw b Waite 7 (Essex 114-6 v Worcestershire)

Worcestershire celebrate wicketImage source, Rex Features

Worcestershire can put that drop out of their minds for now because Matthew Waite has done it again.

Noah Thain has played all round one that hasn't move (for a change) from Waite and is struck low down in front of all three.

With the loss of the injured Michael Pepper, the home side are in real trouble and effectively seven down.

  5. 'Surrey and Sussex should play each other twice'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 18 April

    Sussex 168-2 v Surrey

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

It's such a shame the way the fixtures have worked out and I don't know how they work out or how they are decided, but it just seems bonkers to me that Surrey and Sussex aren't playing each other twice this season.

It's a local derby and you would of thought you play your local teams twice don't you?

  6. new ball

New (old) ballpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 18 April

    Durham v Yorks 120-3

Matthew Potts has a changed ball in hand after umpires agree that the old one is no longer fit for purpose. Often brings a change of luck but not this one.

Jonny Bairstow plants a firm stride towards the pitch and creams a drive through extra cover. And he then backs it up with another pulled through midwicket. Another, this time through mid off and rounds it off with a dimissive drive through the covers.

Sixteen from five balls. Durham could be asking the old one back very shortly.

  7. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 18 April

    Essex 113-5 v Worcestershire

Matthew Waite denied as Simon Harmer is dropped at slip.

It's a classic Waite delivery - you know it by now - shaping away off a perfect length and Harmer gets a big drive out.

It's a thick outside edge and it's heading straight into Adam Hose's bread basket. Sadly Rob Jones dives across him from second slip and blocks his view and Jones can't hang on.

A second drop for Jones. It was Hose's catch really.

    Big let off for Essex.

  8. 'A cracking shot from Haines'published at 14:33 British Summer Time 18 April

    Sussex 168-2 v Surrey

    Isabelle Duncan
    BBC Test Match Special

It's a brave shot from Tom Haines. He doesn't want the bowler on top of him.

There's sort of mind games going on between him and Dan Worrall

    A cracking shot.

  9. Pears continue to pepper the padspublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 18 April

    Essex 112-5 v Worcestershire

Dear me that's very, very close.

Ben Allison this time charges in and pins Noah Thain on his crease.

It looks bang in front. Allison does deliver from wide of the crease so there is that to consider but that's one for ball tracker. If we had it. Which we don't.

Thain stays. Allison walks back to his mark to try again.

  10. 50 runs

for Hainespublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 18 April

    Sussex 164-2 v Surrey

Tom Haines brings up his half-century with a proper Caribbean flourish, pivoting elegantly on his back heel as he whipcracks a well-timed pull through backward square.

It has not been easy with Dan Worrall and Gus Atkinson looking every inch angry quicks after lunch but Haines has coped well with the short stuff, his 50 coming with six boundaries in 92 deliveries.

  11. Shout for LBWpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 18 April

    Essex 112-5 v Worcestershire

It's Waite asking the question again!

Another one that cuts back in to the batter off a perfect length. Simon Harmer plays down the wrong line and it hits him just above the knee roll.

Gareth Roderick couldn't spread his legs any wider with his appeal.

I think the ball's just going over, and maybe a touch leg-side.

    Decent decision.

  12. Waite enjoying ideal conditionspublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 18 April

    Essex 110-5 v Worcestershire

If you asked Matthew Waite for his ideal conditions to bowl, he'd probably describe the ones he has at Chelmsford. Green pitch, helpful cloud.

The all-rounder has bowled beautifully. No great pace but lovely shape and a nagging length that puts constant doubt in the batters' mind - to play or not to play.

Waite just finishes off another excellent over of beating the bat. He has 1-7 from this four-over spell so far.

  13. Division Two latestpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 18 April

Derbyshire have recovered superbly from 29-3 thanks to a century stand from Wayne Madsen (64 not out) and Brooke Guest (72 not out).

They're 166-3 against Northants and starting to dominate.

Kent are chipping away at Gloucestershire as they hunt a third win on the bounce. The visitors are 123-4 at Canterbury.

Middlesex paceman Dane Paterson has claimed the big wicket of Glamorgan's Sam Northeast for 27 to leave them 110-2 at Lord's.

They're still off for rain at Old Trafford, where Lancashire were 61-3 at lunch against Leicestershire.

  14. ouch!

Alsop hit on helmetpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 18 April

    Sussex 147-2 v Surrey

Not so much an ouch as a quick check the helmet is not compromised after a short one from an increasingly frustrated Dan Worrall pings Tom Alsop on the helmet.

The batter is fine but we have a lengthy delay while the helmet technician/concussion check is performed.

That is both batters struck on helmet after Tom Haines was bonged by Gus Atkinson in the previous over and it is a step change in tactics from Surrey skipper Rory Burns after the loops of Dan Lawrence before lunch.

  15. 'Worcestershire have bowled pretty nicely'published at 14:09 British Summer Time 18 April

    Essex 110-5 v Worcestershire

    Don Topley
    BBC Essex

Worcestershire are keeping the pressure well and truly on.

This team isn't the same team at the moment that had a difficult game against Somerset and had a difficult game against Yorkshire.

They've won the toss and Alan Richardson will be over the moon with his charges.

They've bowled pretty nicely all day.

  16. 'Big job for Bairstow'published at 14:09 British Summer Time 18 April

    Durham v Yorks 92-3

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Durham continue to work on the Yorkshire batters.

It's one of those days in that you would not be surprised if you look at the scoreboard in an another hour and Yorkshire are six or seven down.

So there's a big job for the Yorkshire skipper Jonny Bairstow to do here as he walks out at number five.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 18 April

    Critchley c Roderick b Waite 19 (Essex 106-5 v Worcestershire)

Worcestershire celebrate wicketImage source, Rex Features

Matt Critchley hasn't made the most of that close lbw call that went his way.

He's on the walk and nibbles at another juicy tempter from Matthew Waite that moves off the seam and takes the edge.

Gareth Roderick bags his third behind the sticks.

Waite's first ball to new batter Simon Harmer brings a big appeal for leg before but it's sliding well down

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 18 April

    Malan c Rhodes b Doggett 18 (Durham v Yorks 92-3)

Brendan Doggett has a third and it is Dawid Malan who has not got himself into line and edged to first slip where Will Rhodes takes a regulation catch.

The Aussie bowler now has 3-22 from his 10 overs.

  19. 'A dicey period'published at 13:59 British Summer Time 18 April

    Essex 106-4 v Worcestershire

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Hereford & Worcestershire

There's a bit of a dicey period here I feel after lunch.

Essex are building a new partnership but it doesn't feel convincing when you think about how Jordan Cox and Tom Westley were batting in that partnership this morning.

  20. Postpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 18 April

    Essex 104-4 v Worcestershire

Wow that's a close call for Matt Critchley.

Matthew Waite jags one back in to the right-hander catching him on the back foot. It's struck the back pad and triggers a mighty appeal from the Pears.

Not out is the decision. Could JUST have hit him outside the line of off stump. That's all it can be.

    Critchley survives.
