    Hants 5-0 v Yorks 121

Wonder what the late Fred Trueman would have thought about a fast bowler wearing a headband?

Whatever, Jack White gets through a tidy first over for Yorkshire, which yields just a single for Fletcha Middleton.

Ben Coad will continue at the other end with four slips in place. The sun is now shining down on proceedings - a great sight on the opening day of the season.

    Warks v Sussex 140-3

The 100 stand between James Coles and Tom Clark.

They have done a very good repair job at Edgbaston.

We're probably about even in this game now.

  3. Division Two updatepublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 4 April

That man Ian Holland has struck again for Leicestershire, trapping Glamorgan Colin Ingram lbw for 32 at Sophia Gardens. Chris Cooke and Ben Kellaway are now together for the Welsh county, who are 132-5.

Northamptonshire have a wicket against Kent, with Jack Leaning edging behind off Raphael Weatherall. Leaning made 40 but Tawanda Muyeye is still there on 72 not out in Kent's total of 173-4.

Graeme van Buuren finds the boundary in the latest Luis Reece over at derby and Gloucestershire are 122-4 - with GVB 27 not out and James Bracey on 40.

    Hants 4-0 v Yorks 121

Ben Coad took 56 wickets for Yorkshire in last summer's County Championship and they are going to need another top performance from him at the Ageas Bowl this afternoon.

Mark Stoneman takes guard for the first time following his winter move to the Utilita Bowl from Middlesex and pulls Coad's second ball for four.

Fletcha Middleton is the other Hampshire opener.

    Taylor lbw b Overton 5 (Somerset v Worcs 151-7)

    Craig Overton joins the party!

Having watched his team-mate Kasey Aldridge take the plaudits, the tall fast bowler gets one to nip back into Tom Taylor's back pad, beating his defensive prod forward.

He didn't look comfortable out there and his 15-ball stay ends.

    Ben Allison joins Matthew Waite.

What has happened? What have Hampshire had for lunch?

If you're a Yorkshire supporter, you might want to cover your ears - bowled out for 121.

Hampshire have been absolutely brilliant. Yorkshire have handed them a few wickets on a silver platter. Some wickets have been earned, some not so much.

If you're a Hampshire fan, it looks like a good day.

  7. 150 runs

150 up for Worcestershirepublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset v Worcs 151-6

    Lovely shot!

After being worked over a little by Lewis Gregory in the previous over, Tom Taylor will feel a lot better after that fine cover drive off Josh Davey.

He picks up his first boundary.

Matthew Waite then carries on his merry way, as a lovely on drive off Gregory brings him his fifth boundary to move to 30 off just 31 balls.

It's been a struggle, but the Pears have also brought up their 150 after 42 overs.

    Carlson b Holland 25 (Glamorgan 126-4 v Leics)

He took the first wicket of the match with his first delivery - and now he has his first of the afternoon session.

Ian Holland has proved a very handy cricketer since Leicestershire signed him from Hampshire and removing Kiran Carlson brings Ben Kellaway to the crease.

    Somerset v Worcs 143-6

You can't keep Kasey Aldridge out of this game and he almost picks up a catch to add to his five-for.

A lovely delivery from Lewis Gregory catches the outside edge of Tom Taylor's bat but it drops agonisingly short of Aldridge's left hand at first slip.

Taylor then breathes another huge sigh of relief as Gregory slides a beauty past his outside edge through to wicketkeeper James Rew.

Gregory runs down the pitch as the slips celebrate, but the umpire is unmoved.

Ben Cliff tries an ambitious reverse sweep for the second time in the over and this time, it brings about his downfall.

Hampshire bowl out Yorkshire in under 35 overs - the last five wickets falling in 7.4 overs since lunch.

Liam Dawson finished with figures of 3-8 and Kyle Abbott takes 3-42.

A below-par batting effort by the White Rose on their return to Division One - Dawid Malan was their top scorer with 31 before needlessly running himself out.

    Westley c Smith b Roach 40 (126-2)

Kemar Roach celebrates taking the wicket of Tom Westley with Surrey team matesImage source, Rex Features

A breakthrough for Surrey and it's a gift.

Kemar Roach drifts a full one onto Tom Westley's pads and the Essex skipper's eyes light up, but it's lights out as he only succeeds in flicking the ball into the hands of the waiting Jamie Smith at mid-wicket.

    Surrey needed that.

    Notts v Durham 154-4

Will Rhodes takes advantage of the short boundary and picks up his first four.

It brings up the 150 for the visitors. The first innings is right in the balance and you feel Durham need a decent stand.

Another wicket for the hosts and they are properly on top.

  13. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex (127-3)

James Coles punches and Ethan Bamber delivery away to the backward-point boundary.

It's the kind of 'stand and deliver' shot you expect from the modern batter and Coles looks very much at home in Division One.

To accentuate that fact Coles cuts away another Bamber ball to the fence.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Colin Ackermannpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts v Durham 139-4

It's been a difficult day for Durham batters so far, but Colin Ackermann becomes the second batter to fifty.

His 66th career first-class half-century has taken him 88 balls, with seven fours and that six.

  15. Division Two updatepublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 4 April

Kent have made a steady start after lunch at Northampton, advancing to 149-3 in the 37th over, with Tawanda Muyeye now 58 not out and Jack leaning on 32. Their partnership is currently worth 89.

A similar story at Derby, where James Bracey is on 31 and Gloucestershire are now 102-4 in the 36th over.

  16. Postpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 115-3

James Coles drives Ed Barnard up to the long-off fence and he, along with Tom Clark, has added 75 runs since the fall of Tom Alsop.

This is good stuff from the Division Two champions because at 40-3 it could have got very messy very quickly.

  17. Postpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 4 April

    Essex 118-1 v Surrey

Surrey have posted boundary riders either side of the wicket since lunch and Essex have added only four runs.

The visitors have assessed the wicket - there is no discernible assistance and with the ball into its 34th over the tactic now is to frustrate Essex and choke their run rate.

    Robinson c James b Tongue 16 (Notts v Durham 136-4)

A great moment for Josh Tongue!

It's a loose shot from Ollie Robinson as Tongue takes his outside edge.

Lyndon James dropped a decent chance off Alex Lees this morning, but mae amends, with a decent catch at first slip, low to his right.

    Will Rhodes joins Colin Ackermann.

Bess lbw Dawson 1 (Hants v Yorks 112-9)

    Another one bites the dust.

Dom Bess plays across the line to a straight one from Liam Dawson and the Hampshire left-arm spinner now has figures of 2-1.

Jack White - a winter signing from Northants - comes out to bat for Yorkshire for the first time.

  20. Glamorgan look to 'steady the ship'published at 14:02 British Summer Time 4 April

    Glamorgan 117-3 v Leics

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales commentator

The Foxes’ bowlers have always looked in the hunt in Cardiff with consistent movement off a green-tinged wicket.

There was a victim apiece to Ian Holland, Tom Scriven and Ben Green in the opening session as only Eddie Byrom got going, the first 36 of his 41 runs coming in boundaries.

But with the sun breaking through around the lunch interval, Glamorgan’s Kiran Carlson and Colin Ingram started to steady the ship to the mysterious accompaniment of some laid-back jazz drifting in from just outside the ground.

Worryingly for Leicestershire, opener Rishi Patel departed for an X-ray after an early blow on the right hand while fielding at slip.
