Time for some spin after drinks, then as Jack Leach is thrown the ball by stand-in England skipper Ollie Pope.

This is only the second time Pakistan have managed a 100+ partnership for the seventh wicket in the second innings in their Test history.

The previous instance was the 184 added by Abdul Razzaq & Kamran Akmal taking the team score from 243-6 to 427-7, earning a draw against India in Mohali in March 2005.

  5. drinks break

Pakistan 189-6 at drinkspublished at 06:55 British Summer Time

Apart from a few short balls, not much to report in a quiet first hour for Pakistan.

They trail England by 78 runs as the players take drinks in Multan.

Chris Woakes doesn't have the pace of the other two [Atkinson and Carse].

Aamer Jamal plays it well down into the ground and it puts England under-pressure as they need to break this partnership.

  7. Pak 189-6published at 48 overs

Chris Woakes is best served by sticking to more tried-and-tested methods of angling the ball into the stumps, you would think.

He drops his fourth ball in short to Aamer Jamal but the Pakistan batter feels comfortable with the pace of Woakes compared to Brydon Carse and hooks him for four.

Aamer dragged it from the offside without much trouble.

Before Brydon Carse started going short England's quick bowlers have continued their tactics of targeting the stumps today, like they did yesterday.

In the first innings 10.5% of their deliveries were projected to hit the stumps, which almost doubled yesterday at 19.6%. Today they've pushed it up slightly to 23%.

Just coming off the gloves of the batter and England need to be patient.

England know the tactics are there, but they have to be patient.

  10. Pak 185-6published at 47 over

Brydon Carse has well and truly set his stall out after that bumper in his previous over which clocked Aamer Jamal on the helmet.

The England quick is now round the wicket and bounding in with purpose, digging the ball into the pitch.

Aamer Jamal looks to takes on another short-pitched delivery from Carse's second ball and gloves it over wicketkeeper Jamie Smith's head for a single.

Pakistan were low on confidence going into this. You wouldn't they they would win the series 3-0 - they will be lucky if they win a game.

Pakistan will be wanting to make England bat again.

  12. Pak 183-6published at 46 overs

A change of ends for Chris Woakes.

His penultimate ball of the over is short, but he lacks the menace of Brydon Carse and Aamer Jamal confidently hooks him to the boundary for four.

A century stand for the seventh wicket. Pakistan's batters have rolled their sleeves up this morning.

If (not sure how likely it is) Stokes is fit for the next Test who is getting dropped? Would feel very harsh on Carse as he’s bowled well but assume it’s him? And where does Stone fit?

There's nobody in front of the batter, nobody mid-wicket, extra cover, mid-off or mid-on - everyone is lingering for a catch. We have a deep third and a forward point.

  16. Pak 178-6published at 45 overs

Inevitably there's a bit more chin music for Aamer Jamal from Brydon Carse in the remainder of the over.

The penultimate ball of the over is bravely steered by Aamer through point for a couple.

We heard the rattle so much as hit where the grille connects to the helmet. There isn't much Aamer Jamal could do about that.

It was a good bouncer from Brydon Carse - he was quite chipper out in the middle earlier.

  18. ouch!

    Pak 176-6published at 44.2 overs

A rasping bouncer from Brydon Carse clocks Aamer Jamal on the helmet. Aamer turns his head away to a brutal delivery which nips back in and it hits him on the side of the protective headgear.

    We'll have a concussion check.

Given the the issues with Pakistan’s batsmen yesterday were pressure and the pitch looks a docile as ever, the triumphalism is possibly a little premature. There’s little to no pressure on these batsmen and England could easily themselves face an icky looking chase late in the day

England have bowled nicely and they've bowled with a hint of reverse swing.

Maybe, they're to looking to keep the ball straight. They've used their short ball well without being excessive.
