England captain Harry Brook: "We'd have had a bowl.

"I think we did great in both innings [in Durham]. We recognised a couple of overs where we could apply a lot of pressure and we took that opportunity.

"Same team. Jofra's an awesome performer, hopefully he can put in the same performance today."

Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh: "A change of coin and a change of luck! I thought we were pretty good at Durham and only outplayed by a few pretty good partnerships at the back end. The series is still alive."

On the return of Adam Zampa, Josh Inglis and Travis Head to the side: "We are all good - you welcome that experience. Alex Carey is still in as a batter. Alex has been fantastic for us and deserves his place in the team."

On being back at Lord's, where Australia's players were embroiled in a feisty Ashes Test last summer, and walking through the Long Room: "I might join them for a cup of tea later!"

I feel with these overhead conditions, Australia will fancy getting that ball swinging early here.

The England players are enjoying some of sort keepy-uppy based warm-up. Jos Buttler, ruled out of this series through injury, is out there with them.

There's an elaborate punishment system involving ear flicking going on.

The situation here at Lord's is that the roller is going up and down, rolling the pitch. Both sets of players are out there, loosening up. We are just waiting for the umpires to say that we can have the toss at 13:30 BST.

Andrew Bevan: Uh oh, if Michael Fish reckons it may brighten up later (12:16), prepare yourself for the inevitable hurricane about 3pm!

I should clarify that I did not, in fact, call Michael Fish.

We haven't spoken since he refused to back my Dick van Dyke cricket ground staff musical.

Adam: Is it just me or do others find that rain delaying a coin being tossed obscene which then delays the start further.. Just like Test matches starting at 11am when they could easily be 10am. Cricket drives me mad.

  11. Inspection imminentpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time

    Some news from Lord's!

There will be an inspection soon, with a toss at 13:30 BST if that goes well.

We would be playing a 43-over game.

Charlotte and Matthew: On our way to Lords from Cambridge and hoping we'll time it perfectly for a start around 2pm. This is the first time we've left our baby with the Grandparents and having a day out!

The covers are coming off here. The rain has stopped. So we'll wait for an announcement.

  14. Hull out of Pakistan seriespublished at 12:49 British Summer Time

A little bit of news from yesterday in case you missed it...

Pace bowler Josh Hull has been ruled out of England's tour of Pakistan with a quad injury.

The 20-year-old left-armer made his Test debut against Sri Lanka earlier this month, having played only 10 first-class matches.

He picked up three wickets as England were beaten in the third Test at The Oval, then was subsequently ruled out of the limited-overs series against Australia.

England have opted not to call up a replacement.

Certainly plenty of broom action out there as the covers are swept of rain.

Given the decline of the chimney sweeping industry, perhaps a modern Mary Poppins remake would feature Lord's groundstaff putting on a show.

In fact, Dick van Dyke still pretty sprightly - let's get that 98-year-old out there dancing on the covers.

It'd pass the time during the rain delay, at least.

There are still plenty of umbrellas up in the stands but the ground staff have sprung into action.

They're busy clearing water off the sheets covering the square so we can only hope that means they're confident the worst has passed.

Really poor from the ECB, this. It's nearly October and it's actually rather cold! Do the fans actually want our international cricket to be played during the extremities of the summer?

It's most definitely turn of the season weather out there today.

London is getting drenched, while Manchester is bathed in sunshine.

Too warm for a coat over the top of a sweater, but leave it at home and you'll be bound to get drenched.

The perfect weather for international cricket, basically.

I wish some roads near me had the same drainage as Lord's. It's extraordinary! If it wasn't raining now, we wouldn't be very far off from starting.
