You get the feeling England are about to go on the charge. They have been given a few loose balls and are keeping the momentum going.

You feel there is a bit more intent now, which they may have spoken about.

  3. Eng 254-2published at 52 overs

The tea break cannot come quickly enough for South Africa.

A drag-down from Sune Luus is worked down the leg side as Nat Sciver-Brunt helps herself to yet another boundary.

She has 89, and the partnership between this pair now stands at 151 from 149 balls.

    Ruthless.

  4. Eng 247-2published at 51 overs

Two more boundaries in the over as Nadine de Klerk loses her control completely.

Maia Bouchier strikes the first fiercely down the ground for four, before a wide gifts her an extra ball and she pulls that to the ropes as well.

  5. Eng 238-2published at 50.1 overs

And sometimes, it's just your day.

Nat Sciver-Brunt inside-edges the ball for four off Nadine de Klerk, a whisker away from dragging on to her stumps.

  6. Eng 233-2published at 50 overs

South Africa need to get some control back, and quickly. It is running away from them at the moment and the pitch is offering very little.

The odd one is keeping low from the spinners but none of them have been able to bowl consistently full enough to exploit it.

South Africa's bowling hasn't been great. You have to get into that attacking mindset and Test bowling is very different from the containing bowling of white-ball cricket.

    You've got to be gutsy.

  8. Eng 229-2published at 49 overs

Too short again, pulled for four again.

South Africa are making this very easy for England. Of course, they don't play much Test cricket and England are a stronger side but they just can't get the basics right.

  9. Eng 225-2published at 48 overs

Five runs are worked off Chloe Tryon's latest as Nat Sciver-Brunt continues to cruise. She has 72 from 73 balls and it's been completely chanceless.

Another century looks inevitable, I'm not even afraid of putting the curse on her at this point.

  10. Eng 220-2published at 47 overs

A quiet over from Sune Luus as Maia Bouchier just settles back into things after all the excitement.

She's struck 18 fours and two sixes in this knock so far.

There is real emotion for her and her team mates. Her dad is in the crowd too. She has been pretty chanceless so it is really well deserved.

  12. 100 runs

100 for Maia Bouchierpublished at 46 overs

    Eng 219-2

A Test debut of dreams for Maia Bouchier!

Nat Sciver-Brunt kindly takes a single to give her one ball of Chloe Tryon's over to work with, and she slashes it down to deep third to bring up a sensational century from 124 balls.

The pair share a big hug, and all of England's players are on their feet in applause.

  13. Eng 219-2published at 45.4 overs

The boundaries continue to flow from Nat Sciver-Brunt.

To be perfectly honest, South Africa have bowled terribly too her. So much has been short, as she pulls another off Chloe Tryon to the ropes.

  14. Eng 210-2published at 45 overs

Nat Sciver-Brunt nicks the strike from the final ball of the over to keep Maia Bouchier waiting a little longer.

44 of Nat Sciver-Brunt's 59 runs in this innings have come through the on-side.

  16. Eng 207-2published at 44 overs

    Close!

Maia Bouchier moves to 97 by edging past Anneke Bosch's outstretched hand at slip.

Chloe Tryon's bad ball is the drag down. Maybe she grips it too tightly or is anxious to bowl well to Nat Sciver-Brunt but it's not a great.

  18. Eng 203-2published at 43.5 overs

    And again!

Same ball, same result to bring up England's 200 in very good time. Nat Sciver-Brunt could get to three figures first at this rate.

  19. Eng 198-2published at 43.1 overs

Bouchier is being made to wait, though.

Chloe Tryon bowls far too short and Nat Sciver-Brunt doesn't hesitate in pulling for four.

Maia Bouchier is clearly attacking the second part of an over in this innings. 13 of her 18 boundaries have come in the second half of an over today.

    • First three balls of an over: 29 (57) [4s - 4, 6s - 1]
    • Last three balls of an over: 64 (65) [4s - 12, 6s - 1]
