  2. Marnus falls to bail switch trickpublished at 10:29 Greenwich Mean Time

Overnight in Australia, the hosts enjoyed the better of day two of the third Test against Australia, closing on 405-7.

Travis Head and Steve Smith both hit tons in Brisbane.

But there were some moments of joy for India, including a five-wicket haul for Jasprit Bumrah (who else?!) and this moment of Marnus magic, with Labuschagne nicking off after a bail switch...

  3. De Klerk and Dottin picked up in WPLpublished at 10:25 Greenwich Mean Time

Elsewhere in the world of women's cricket, the auction for the Women's Premier League is continuing with 19 slots left to be filled by the five teams.

West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin was the first to be picked up by Gujarat Giants after a bidding war with UP Warriorz, while South Africa all-rounder Nadine de Klerk will be in a good mood when she returns to the pitch shortly because she was signed by Mumbai Indians.

England all-rounder Danielle Gibson went unsold in the first round of buys, as did Australia leg-spinner Alana King.

The pitch is pretty dead and flat so it's a tough game if you are a bowler. With the pace of Lauren Filer and the swing of Lauren Bell, England maybe have a bit more to offer.

But then, South Africa have Marizanne Kapp who didn't make much happen.

Maia Bouchier is the 14th player to score 50-plus for England on debut in Women's Tests. Only three of these players went on to convert the 50-plus score to a hundred.

    Thanks, Sam.

A positive morning from England's point of view, with Maia Bouchier cashing in as it already looks like a good toss to have won.

There was one nervy moment when the six she hit to reach her half-century flew towards Marizanne Kapp at deep square leg, but she got away with it and remains unbeaten on 54 while Heather Knight has played more conservatively for her 20.

England on top after the first morning then and they'll hope they get the chance to push on in the afternoon despite the threat of a storm blowing in.

It's dry for now and the ground staff seem confident enough it'll stay that way for a while at least given they've left the covers off.

That should mean there is plenty of cricket for Ffion Wynne to take you through after lunch. Fingers crossed, anyway.

  8. Lunch - Eng 103-1published at 27 overs

    Bouchier 54, Knight 20

A maiden over from Ayanda Hlubi and that's lunch.

A good session for England and, in particular, Maia Bouchier, who has batted so well to reach a half-century in her debut Test innings.

Tammy Beaumont, having survived an extremely good lbw shout second ball, fell for 21 but that is the only wicket to fall in the morning session.

Having watched Maia Bouchier, you would not think it was her Test debut. She looks comfortable and calm at the crease and hasn't gotten bogged down because Heather Knight is going at a lesser strike rate.

Bouchier looks very much at home in Test cricket.

I don't want to take away from her half-century, but Maia Bouchier got a little bit of fortune there. She deserves it but she should have been caught.

  11. Eng 103-1published at 26 overs

    Bouchier 54, Knight 20

Maia Bouchier looks frustrated with herself after that near miss in reaching her fifty but it's been a good knock from the England opener on debut.

A single later in the over also brings up the fifty partnership with Heather Knight.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Maia Bouchierpublished at 25.2 overs

    Eng 102-1

Tumi Sekhukhune is into the attack for the first time as lunch approaches - but Maia Bouchier puts her second ball over long leg for six!

That brings up a half-century on debut for Bouchier from 71 balls.

Should she have been caught in the deep there, though? It looks as though Marizanne Kapp was in position to take it but the ball went straight past her. I don't think she even got a hand to it.

It's hard to say where the game is as it's still early on. Maia Bouchier is really impressing me and you would never know it is her Test debut.

I would love South Africa to try something, it feels a little bit easy for England at the moment.

  14. Eng 95-1published at 25 overs

Good placement from Heather Knight, getting a good stride in and driving Ayanda Hlubi through extra cover for four.

It isn't brilliantly timed but with such short boundaries and a quick outfield, the ball wins the race to the boundary cushion.

There is quite a bit of wind picking up now and there looks like storm clouds are coming in. But at the moment we play on.

The last thing you want in a four-day Test is a rain delay.

Playing straight down the wicket is Maia Bouchier's strength. In her international career a third of her runs (33%) have come in the 'V' down the wicket. Of the players with 1000+ runs for England since 2012, only Sophia Dunkley (39%) has scored runs more often straight down the wicket.

  17. Eng 91-1published at 24 overs

Maiden from Nadine de Klerk, who is getting the ball to shape away from the England right-handers.

Maia Bouchier drives nicely late in the over but the cover region is packed and she can't find the gap.

Ayanda Hlubi looks frustrated and Heather Knight has got so lucky. She looked around straight away to see if it had hit her stumps.

  19. Eng 91-1published at 23 overs

Marizanne Kapp's second spell is a very short one - just two overs - so she'll remain wicketless in Tests for now, with Ayanda Hlubi back on.

So close! The last ball of the over nips back to find Heather Knight's inside edge, brushes the back leg but just misses the stumps.

Not only that, the ball runs away for four. A moment of good fortune for the England captain.

Marizanne Kapp is yet to a take a wicket in Test matches, playing in her fourth game since making her debut in 2014. She picked up her first ODI wicket in her eighth game, back in October 2011 - dismissing Danni Wyatt-Hodge, here in South Africa at Potchefstroom.
