Very good start for Spirit. Good platform, good foundation being laid and what they've also done well is minimised dots.

Nine catches and six drops for the Rockets this season. Their catching efficiency of 60% is the lowest for any team.

  3. Spirit 82-1published at 50 balls

Oh, he's a delight to watch.

Too wide from Stoinis and Williamson, again, picks the gap exquisitely between point and cover.

That's the fifty partnership between Williamson and Smith from just 30 balls. Halfway through and Spirit are well-placed.

  4. 6 runs

    Spirit 76-1published at 46 balls

    Hello!

Fetched from outside off stump and belted for six by Kane Williamson!

Not sure if David Willey was motoring, but he was running hard!

It wasn't for a lack of effort, but Lockie Ferguson has bowled two knuckle balls in three.

  6. Spirit 68-1published at 45 balls

    Almost another!

This can't quite be claimed as a drop, with David Willey unable to get a hand to it despite a brilliant effort. He sprints from mid-off, puts in a sprawling dive but it's not enough.

An eventful five balls from Ferguson with just four runs conceded.

  7. dropped catch

Williamson dropped on 22published at 42 balls

    Spirit 65-1

    Would you believe it?

Lockie Ferguson almost gets his redemption but this time, he's let down by the keeper. A slower ball draws the outside edge from Kane Williamson but a diving Tom Alsop can't cling on behind the stumps.

Four glorious boundaries through the off-side for Kane Williamson today. In T20s where data exists, Williamson has 380 boundaries through the off-side and 389 through the leg-side, one of the rare players in today's era who has an almost even split.

  9. Spirit 64-1published at 40 balls

Frustrating for Rehan Ahmed, who produced the chance but is let down in the field.

Whenever you see the fielders charge in and heel break, you know it's not looking good.

  11. dropped catch

Smith dropped on 26published at 37 balls

    Spirit 60-1

Another chance and to make matters worse, it's palmed over the rope for six!

Lockie Ferguson completely misjudges at long-on, coming in too far and it's too late for him to backpedal, only managing to get one hand to it.

Kane Williamson is a different class. He just looks so cool and so calm.

  13. Spirit 54-1published at 35 balls

This is Kane Williamson at his very best and the move to three is suiting him well.

Marcus Stoinis is mixing up his pace a lot, but Williamson reads the slower ball perfectly and drills it through the covers.

Kane Williamson playing games with the bowler here...

  15. Spirit 48-1published at 30 balls

Oooh, more beauties from Kane Williamson.

He backs away and drives past extra cover for four, before playing a little later to the next ball and threading it past point instead.

    Perfect manipulation of the fielders.

Adam Hose was diving forward and it did get to him, but as he hit the ground, it comes out of his hands.

Smith dropped on 23published at 25 balls

    Big moment!

Jamie Smith flicks the ball out to deep mid-wicket where Adam Hose spills a tough chance, diving forward, but one that should've been taken.

A disappointing end to the powerplay from the Rockets' perspective.

That will make Kane Williamson feel better. This is a lovely shot - Kane Williamson-esque.

  19. Spirit 35-1published at 23 balls

Glorious from Kane Williamson, a textbook punch through the covers for four.

  20. Spirit 30-1published at 20 balls

Kane Williamson, who is still in pretty early despite being demoted from opening, gets off the mark with a single.
