You would not expect Tahlia McGrath to drop that. I think she expected it to come at her much faster.

  2. dropped catch

Iram dropped on 2published at 11 overs

    Yes, no, yes...no!

Iram Javed plays a loose cross-batted swipe that goes straight to bowler Tahlia McGrath, who mis-judges the speed, juggles the ball a few times before it eventually falls to the floor.

Pakistan have got to be able to build a partnership. If they lose another wicket they'll be in even more bother.

  4. Pak 40-5published at 10 overs

Australia are by far the best team in the tournament, but we have also seen some pretty rotten shots from Pakistan.

40-5 is the lowest score at the halfway stage at this World Cup so far. Lasting the full 20 will be an achievement.

It is poor batting, but well bowled from Georgia Wareham.

Wareham sees Nina Dar coming early and she's able to flight it up, tossing it outside off-stump.

Dar makes no attempt to come down the line of the ball.

It is easy pickings for Alyssa Healy behind the stumps.

    Resistance over.

Nida Dar goes on a walkabout but misses the ball and is caught halfway down the track, with Alyssa Healy whipping off the bails.

A bit of resistance from Nida Dar, who blasts Annabel Sutherland over mid-on for Pakistan's first boundary of the day.

Pakistan have scores of 116 all out and 105-8 so far at this World Cup. If they can get close to that they will have done well.

    Another wicket falls.

Pakistan in all sorts of bother, that wasn't really the option.

Whether Pakistan were using Omaima Sohail to come in and be a pinch hitter and that was her role, it's a poor option.

It would have been a better option to keep it on the ground and go for four rather than going aerial.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7.5 overs

    Omaima c Gardner b Wareham 3 (Pak 29-4)

    Easy as you like.

Omaima Sohail goes for a slog-sweep but perfectly picks out Ashleigh Gardner, who makes up for her drop the previous over with a simple catch on the mid-wicket boundary.

Georgia Wareham strikes in her first over.

  10. dropped catch

Omaima dropped on 0published at 7 overs

This is a very, very difficult chance but for a team like Australia it will go down as a drop.

New batter Omaima Sohail clips the ball towards midwicket and Ashleigh Gardner, diving one-handed, spills the catch low down at full stretch.

It would have been a worldie had she held on.

Here is the first wicket to fall this evening, but it has got a lot worse for Pakistan since.

Probably the last thing that Pakistan need is an umpire's call not going their way.

Annabel Sutherland with an instant impact.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 6.2 overs

Sidra Amin lbw b Sutherland 12 (Pak 23-3)

    Out - just!

Ultraedge is working again and shows no spike as the ball went past - and Hawkeye shows the ball was going on to just clip leg stump for umpire's call.

I think Sidra Ameen is reviewing because she knows Pakistan are in trouble.

  15. Pakistan reviewpublished at 6.1 overs

A full delivery from Annabel Sutherland crashes into pads of Sidra Amin and the umpire's finger goes up.

Sidra Amin immediately reviews, so the third umpire's busy evening is about to get busier.

    Is there another slight edge?

  16. Pak 23-2published at 6 overs

That successful review is a bit of good news for Pakistan, but that was not the best powerplay. They have yet to hit a boundary and that will become even harder now the field can spread.

I've not seen anything like that before where Ultraedge has become useless as it was spiking the whole time.

That was a very tricky one for the third umpire as Ultraedge showed a spike all the way through, suggesting it was picking up a random noise from somewhere.

But there was enough evidence on the video replay to show the ball brushed the glove, so the decision is overturned.

  19. Pakistan reviewpublished at 5.2 overs

Another review, this time for Pakistan as Nida Dar is trapped in front attempting a sweep off her first ball from Sophie Molineux.

The umpire puts his finger up but Nida Dar reviews - does that mean she hit it?

    Kirstie Gordon

There was no appeal, it was a straight celebration from Alyssa Healy.

It isn't Pakistan's powerplay so far. The task that already felt like a mountain has already become even bigger.
