I woke up at 6am to take apart my bike having competed in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship yesterday. A two and a half hour journey from Taupo to Hamilton only for the rain to start… Let’s hope we’ve seen the last of the rain for today (although it’s pretty gloomy)!

Right then, news from the ground. We've got some updated session times - all working on the assumption there's no further rain.

    • Tea: 16:10 (03:10) - 16:30
    • Evening session: 16:30 (03:30) - 19:00 (06:00)

Play could go on to 19:30 (06:30) for slow over rate.

You've made the right choice, Nick.

TBH I was pretty much locked in already. All I needed was some validation, and I’ve just got it. Thanks.

Let's turn our attention to Bloemfontein, where England's women enjoyed a successful start to the one-off Test against South Africa.

Maia Bouchier (126) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (128) both scored centuries as the tourists declared on 395-9.

The home side were 17-0 at close on day one, with play set to resume tomorrow at 08:00 GMT - join us for live coverage of that one.

In the mean time, take a read of Ffion Wynne's analysis of the contrasting form of Bouchier and captain Heather Knight.

Stockport's Woodbank definitely the most challenging parkrun in Greater Manchester - bar the brutal Watergrove near Rochdale.

Incidentally, the Kent squad took part in a parkrun a couple of weeks ago as part of their winter training.

Jack Leaning took first place,, external while occasional England international Sam Billings was 14th.

Has anyone encountered a cricketer at parkrun? Jos Buttler has done a couple...

Mike, as someone that does parkrun near New Zealand road, I frequently get overtaken by dog walkers and runners with buggys. I feel your pain.

I have Monday off work, but it’s my wife’s birthday. Should I go to sleep now or tough it out and hope the rain stops soon?

    Nick, Leeds

Cricket 0, sleep 1. Am I disappointed? Relieved? I just don't know any more.

In Hamilton. Two days of cricket in blistering heat, don’t know how they keep up the energy for all the fast bowling. Day one non-stop fast bowling but the reports they were a little wayward were correct. Waiting for the rain to stop then going back. Forecast says 3pm.

We did eventually get a boat out the night before our flight, in what felt very much like a last chopper out of Saigon scenario.

They stuck us in another hotel that had the distinction of having the hot tub from the original version of Love Island.

How many of you can say you've hot tubbed in the same location as Jayne Middlemiss and Strictly's Brendan Cole?

    Not many, I bet.

That veggie burger in Auckland airport was the only start of our troubles.

We found ourselves marooned on an island by a storm that was significant enough to have its own Wikipedia page, staying at a bunkhouse where the only sources of entertainment were their two DVDs - a Westlife concert recording and HBO's House of Saddam.

I can't say either are improved by repeat viewing.

The only time I've been to New Zealand was when I transited through Auckland airport on the way to Fiji.

While we waited for our plane, my friend ordered a veggie burger from a terminal restaurant and was handed a piece of lettuce in a bun.

Myself and my wife landed into Auckland from London this morning and travelled down to Hamilton to watch the cricket. Sat staring at the rain.

Brilliant Bumrah takes five Australian wickets

We're not all that far away from day three of Australia v India in Brisbane - they get under way at midnight GMT.

After a rain-affected day one, the hosts took control of the Test on day two as Steven Smith and Travis Head scored centuries to take their side to 405-7 at the close.

Five of those seven wickets were taken by the world's number one ranked bowler - Jasprit Bumrah.

There is no way that pitch is a 140 all out pitch. England missed an opportunity and it just shows how fine the margins are in international cricket.

If you just off it - whether that is mentally, end-of-seasonitis, Christmasitis, getting on the plane to come home after being away from home for a long time - you can lose the game in a session.
