  1. NZ 259-4published at 66 overs

Matthew Potts tries to gee himself up before starting his 14th over. It is a pretty thankless task for the England bowlers out there.

We have seen a few big hits from Daryl Mitchell, but he is not remotely interested in anything outside off stump, letting the ball fly harmlessly by.

  2. NZ 258-4published at 65 overs

A sweep and reverse-sweep from Daryl Mitchell brings back-to-back fours off Shoaib Bashir.

Sixteen of his 17 runs have come from boundaries.

  3. NZ 250-4published at 64 overs

    Lead by 454

Kane Williamson is through his drive a bit early and the ball loops up, but just evades Matthew Potts as he dives on his follow through.

Williamson does not look fazed, as he hasn't all innings.

Daryl Mitchell then attempts to smash the ball out of the ground again, but cannot make contact. He will middle one of those at one point.

Kane Williams cuts Shoaib Bashir through cover for two runs to edge New Zealand's lead beyond 450.

This has been the perfect session for the hosts.

  6. NZ 245-4published at 62 overs

A bit of a gimme from Matthew Potts, who bowls short and wide, allowing Daryl Mitchell to clip the ball fine for four.

Mitchell then goes for a big yahoo down the ground but fails to connect.

New Zealand's lead is now 449. Surely a declaration cannot be far off?

In case you're wondering, the 66.1 overs Ben Stokes has bowled is comfortably his most in a series as captain.

  8. NZ 241-4published at 61 overs

    Chance!

Shoaib Bashir drops one in wide but it turns sharply in to Kane Williamson, who edges towards first slip. But Harry Brook had stepped to his right anticipating the wider cut, so could not readjust in time.

That was the first time Kane Williamson has reached a century with a six in Test cricket.

  10. NZ 239-4published at '60 overs

Daryl Mitchell has had to wait patiently but he is finally in the middle to join Kane Williamson.

He gives himself one ball before clobbering his next delivery over mid-off for four.

I sense he is here for a good time, not a long time.

Finally Rachin Ravindra's resistance is broken.

He looks to drive a fuller delivery from Matthew Potts into the on-side, but can only skew the ball straight to Brydon Carse at mid-off.

  13. NZ 235-3published at 59 overs

Kane Williamson now averages 97.69 in Hamilton, which is just ridiculous.

Rachin Ravindra looks to charge Shoaib Bashir, but the England spinner pushes the delivery wide, causing Ravindra to adjust and chop the ball into the ground.

  14. NZ 232-3published at 58 overs

    Lead by 436

Kane Williamson charges Jacob Bethell again and biffs the ball over his head for four.

We are seeing a change of tempo now for New Zealand, who are looking to hammer home their already considerable advantage.

Kane Williamson reaches his century in style!

He skips down the track to Jacob Bethell and absolutely launches the ball back over his head for six.

It is the fifth Test in succession that Williamson has reached three figures at this ground.

  16. NZ 220-3published at 57 overs

New Zealand's lead is now 424, meaning England would need to break the world Test record to secure victory.

  17. 6 runs

    NZ 220-3published at 56.4 overs

Rachin Ravindra is slowly warming to his task. Shoaib Bashir gives this one some air but Ravindra plays a powerful slog-sweep over mid-wicket for six.

  18. NZ 210-3published at 56 overs

    Lead by 414

Five runs off Jacob Bethell's four deliveries.

We will bring you an update on Ben Stokes' fitness as soon as we have it. But you would have to think he will not bat given England's situation is pretty dire.

That really didn't look good, did it? Remember when Stokes pulled up mid-over in Christchurch? He at least stayed on the field. This time he was straight off and in obvious discomfort.

  20. NZ 205-3published at 55.2 overs

Oh dear. Ben Stokes does not look comfortable here. In fact, he is walking straight off.

It looks like it could be his left hamstring, which he tore while playing in The Hundred in August.

A huge blow for Stokes and England, who are already in a whole heap of trouble.

Jacob Bethell will complete the over and Ollie Pope will assume the captaincy.
