  1. NZ 172-3published at 48 overs

Pressure released for Rachin Ravindra, who pulls a short ball from Brydon Carse through mid-wicket for four.

Carse then has a right old pop at Ravindra at the end of the over. I'm not sure what he said but I don't think it is broadcastable.

Brydon Carse bowled three consecutive deliveries on an eight metre length to Kane Williamson before going a metre fuller to bring the lbw appeal - just an umpire's call away from yet another wicket set up for the fuller ball for Carse as we've often seen this series.

  3. NZ 168-3published at 47 overs

Rachin Ravindra is getting visibly frustrated here. He has only added four runs to his total this morning.

He goes for a sweep off Shoaib Bashir but it only brings a single down to deep fine leg.

Kane Williamson then shows some nimble footwork to skip down the track and loft the ball over Ben Stokes at mid-wicket for four.

Stokes looks to the heavens in frustration, but he wasn't really close to reaching that.

  4. Not outpublished at 45.5 overs

Ooh, just. It is umpire's call, with the ball projected to just kiss the top of middle and leg.

Williamson survives and England keep their review.

  5. England reviewpublished at 45.5 overs

Kane Williamson is trapped on the back foot by Brydon Carse and the ball cannons into his front pad, just above the knee roll.

The umpire turns down the appeal, but England send it upstairs.

    Is height an issue?

  6. Australia bowled out for 445published at 01:26 Greenwich Mean Time

The rain returned at the Gabba in Brisbane just after India wrapped up the Australia innings.

The hosts were dismissed for 445, with Alex Carey the last man out for 70. Jasprit Bumrah finished with figures of 6-76.

It looks like the rain has stopped though and the umpires are out having a look and the Aussie bowlers are measuring their run-ups. Hopefully play will resume soon.

You can listen to live commentary of India's reply here.

Rachin's not in a rush, is he?

  8. NZ 163-3published at 45 overs

It is still very gloomy at Seddon Park with the floodlights on. That may impact play later on if the cloud persists.

Just the single of Shoaib Bashir's latest over. New Zealand have scored just 27 runs in 13 overs so far today.

Just three of the 60 deliveries from the quicks so far today were going on to hit the stumps - Rachin Ravindra in particular has used this to settle into his innings, leaving nearly half of the deliveries he's faced against the quicks this morning.

I think we can safely say that New Zealand are not going to go on an attacking blitz in an attempt to have a go at England later on today. It is very much a case of slowly grinding them down.

Brydon Carse continues his attempts to lure Rachin Ravindra into a loose stroke outside off stump, but Ravindra isn't interested.

  11. NZ 161-3published at 43 overs

Shoaib Bashir bowls around the wicket to Rachin Ravindra, who has added just two runs to his total this morning.

Make that four with a thick edge that flies just wide of slip.

England looking to crank up the pressure on the Black Caps left-hander.

    Sorry, it's late/early.

    Also Anon.

  14. NZ 159-3published at 42 overs

Ben Stokes has packed the off-side to try and capitalise on any loose drives.

Kane Williamson does send one aerial with an uppish cut, but it finds the gap and rolls over the rope at deep third.

Williamson then has another touch of fortune as he very nearly chops on.

Both encouragement and frustration for England.

There is also a change at the other end as Brydon Carse enters the fray.

  16. NZ 155-3published at 41 overs

    Lead by 359

Shoaib Bashir is finding a hint of turn and Kane Williamson very nearly gets into a bit of a pickle looking to play the ball off the back foot.

Some encouragement for England - but also for New Zealand, who will have a go on this pitch last.

Get Bashir in, something different after two days?

  19. NZ 151-3published at 40 overs

Kane Williamson was bowled in unfortunate circumstances on day one, when the ball bounced back onto his stumps. There was very nearly a repeat here, but he got a better contact with the bat this time and it spins away to safety.

  20. NZ 151-3published at 39 overs

The first play-and-miss of the day from Kane Williamson as he wafts at one outside off stump.

He then nudges a single to bring Rachin Ravindra on strike. The Black Caps batter thinks he has a boundary with a cut into the off-side, but Ben Duckett does well to dive and cut it off in the covers.
