Men's competition: Oval Invincibles 182-7 against Northern Superchargers (Target 199)

Northern Superchargers secure a crucial win against two-time defending champions Oval Invincibles to keep their knockout stage hopes in the men's competition alive.

Invincibles ultimately fell 16 runs short despite Donovan Ferreira's 15-ball 41 towards the end.

But some brilliant batting from Harry Brook and Zak Crawley for the Superchargers help them collect all four points and move level on 20 points with Invincibles at the top.

Invincibles will face London Spirit in their final game on Monday while Superchargers take on Manchester Originals the following day.

Invincibles out as Superchargers secure comfortable win

Earlier today, Northern Superchargers continued their push for a top-three place as they look to challenge Southern Brave for the title.

Their win knocked out Oval Invincibles, who joined Welsh Fire and Birmingham Phoenix in being eliminated from the women's competition.

  4. 'We just had to get over the line'published at 17:14 British Summer Time

    Southern Brave

Southern Brave's Maia Bouchier, speaking to the BBC:

"We just had to get over the line and that's what we did in the end. I am quite happy with how I did, I wasn't thinking about England as such, just to play for the Brave and that's it.

"I look at our top seven and it is so great to see our younger players coming on hitting sixes and taking the pressure off us really, and that is so key to our group which is to have that depth.

"It is key that we got to get together as group as our body language wasn't there and we came together and spoke about creating our own energy and building pressure and getting wickets."

Southern Brave are a fantastic team. They have recruited well and they didn't panic today when London Spirit were on the up. But as a team, they knew someone would take the wicket and they would squeeze after that.

  6. 'We're comfortable chasing whatever'published at 17:10 British Summer Time

    Southern Brave

Southern Brave bowler Lauren Bell, speaking to the BBC: "It got a bit more nervy than I thought it was going to be, but it's the result we wanted.

"I was happy, obviously we had that short boundary to play with and I was happy doing the job for the team.

"I don't think I played that well with the new ball. The slope was taking it away from the stumps and the pitch had a bit of pace in it.

"We bat really deep so allows the girls up top to go and express themselves, play with freedom, take on the powerplay. We've always been in really good positions after the powerplay and I think we're really comfortable chasing whatever's put on the board."

  7. Ferreira departs after giving Invincibles some hopepublished at 13 balls left

Men's competition: Oval Invincibles 159-4 against Northern Superchargers (Target 199)

Oval Invincibles were reeling at 115-4 when Sam Curran left, but Donovan Ferreira has given his side some belief here after hitting a 15-ball 41.

His quick-fire knock, including hitting Samit Patel for three fours and a six in a single set. He then added two more sixes from Jacob Duffy before ending up in the hands of Zak Crawley.

Invincibles need 40 runs from 12 balls.

Seven wins in a row for Southern Brave, equalling the longest winning streak in the women's Hundred (set by Southern Brave in their title-winning campaign in 2023).

This is also their 17th successful chase out of 22 games in The Hundred - the most for any side (men's or women's), going past the 16 successful chases by the Southern Brave men's team.

Southern Brave started strongly, reducing London Spirit to 36-3 before a stand of 67 between Cordelia Griffith and Charli Knott gave the home side a boost.

But Brave fought back, conceding just 22 from the final 25 balls and taking five wickets, leaving them with a chase of 126 which they made look extremely easy.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge fell early but Maia Bouchier and Laura Wolvaardt added 95 for the second wicket which all-but secured their victory.

The Brave have a lot of experience, a lot of good skills, they have power with the bat, brilliant bowlers and they have very good fielders - they are a well-oiled machine.

Seven from seven, they will take some beating in the final.

Southern Brave are straight through to the final. They deserve that win and deserve to be in the final. They've been the best team in the competition so far.

    As easy as you like.

Southern Brave remain unbeaten and they stroll into the Women's Hundred final with a game to spare.

It's not game over for London Spirit, but they need to beat Oval Invincibles on Monday and hope for a few other results to go their way.

    Perfection from Laura Wolvaardt.

Down the pitch, drilled for four. Job done (pretty much).

  14. Brave 121-2published at 9 balls left

    Need 5 to win

    In the air... but safe!

Issy Wong can't get there despite covering plenty of ground off Charlie Dean's bowling, and the batters run two.

  15. Potts and Superchargers strike againpublished at 29 balls left

Men's competition: Oval Invincibles 115-4 against Northern Superchargers (Target 199)

This time, it's Sam Curran who fail to convert after another solid start - nicking Matthew Potts to Michael Pepper.

There is a lengthy review to confirm whether the Superchargers wicketkeeper held onto the catch, but the third umpire is finally happy and Donovan Ferreira can join his captain Sam Billings in the middle.

Oval Invincibles require 84 to win from 29 balls.

  16. Brave 119-2published at 10 balls left

    Need 7 to win

Southern Brave could do with a boundary here, just to ease the nerves.

Spirit have done well to take it this far.
