I've seen Amy Jones play for Warwickshire, Birmingham Phoenix and Perth. Big fan. This is surely her chance to hit triple digits - she is playing majestically.

The cloud has lifted a little and it is brighter than it was in Derby.

    Five from the over.

  4. Eng 111-0published at 23 overs

Typically, Tammy Beaumont middles two in this over but picks out the fielder on both occasions. To Beaumont's credit, she is not looking frustrated. Her strike-rate is down at 57.62.

This is the 30th 100+ opening stand for England in ODI cricket and the fifth for this pair.

There have been just four opening partnerships that have shared more this decade.

England have lost just 14% of the games in which they have put on 100 for the first wicket.

Nice bit of footwork from Amy Jones and she evades the fielder. There has been a bit of a difference between Jones and Beaumont, Jones is trying to use the pace on the ball. We know Beaumont is capable of that too so I would like to see her trying.

  7. Eng 107-0published at 22 overs

    Beaumont 32, Jones 68

Amy Jones is growing into this knock now.

She's in and comfortable and here skips down the pitch to lift Heyley Matthews over the fielder at mid-wicket to take four more.

Jones may not get a better chance to score that first ODI hundred.

Just two boundaries from Tammy Beaumont so far which isn't really like her. It is a well set field but no-one is really taking the game on.

I see what you did there, Simon, but not quite what I was asking.

Amy Jones brings up England's 100 with a drive over the top. Despite the grumbles, this approach may well be more than good enough for the opposition.

Most uncomfortable position watching England play cricket? SCG to lose 5-0 - worse than root canal!

Still no sign of dynamism from Beaumont; Matthews has gone for 10 runs off her first three overs.

Beaumont tried a paddle and missed it in the previous over so that has been put to bed. She looks like she is struggling out there.

  12. Eng 96-0published at 20 overs

    Beaumont 31, Jones 58

The dots build to Tammy Beaumont once more at Hayley Matthews - two or three classes above her teammates - finds a good line and length with her off-spin.

Jones has been the more aggressive of these two batters...

How far away from mid-wicket was that? She was like a road cone. At least put in some sort of effort, don't just stand there.

  14. Eng 94-0published at 19 overs

Again it's Amy Jones who plays the attacking stroke, ending the over by rocking back and pulling for four. Qiana Joseph doesn't move from her position at mid-wicket. That has been a trend from her today.

I'd like to see Tammy Beaumont try a few more things but equally you don't want her to throw her wicket away.

I want to see a bit more of what the men did against West Indies yesterday though.

  16. Eng 86-0published at 18 overs

A couple more gentle singles in the over, with no sign of a change of pace after drinks.

    A 15th ODI half-century for Amy Jones!

From the second ball after drinks she tucks Hayley Matthews away for a leg side single to bring up the landmark off 59 balls.

She's never made an ODI century - that's the next target...

  18. Eng 83-0published at 17 overs

I'd be interested to know whether this is the plan from England, who talked so much about wanting to attack and entertain under Jon Lewis. It is their first ODI under Charlotte Edwards remember.

It has been calm and collected from England so far. I agree with Katherine though, I would like to see a little bit more oomph.

  20. Eng 78-0published at 16 overs

    Beaumont 26, Jones 45

Hayley Matthews has had enough and brings herself with her off-spin. With Matthews' cap in place as ever, England's careful accumulation continues.

There have been nine fours in total - one of which is below - but England have rarely looked ready to press onto the accelerator.
