There is still a little bit of zip in the West Indies attack. However, I would have a gully in there and someone short on the leg side.

England are not going at an express pace, perhaps not being as brave as Nat would like.

Henry Moeran, my esteemed colleague, has just read out an email about a listener who had TMS on yesterday while having a root canal.

That has got me wondering about the most uncomfortable positions people may have found themselves in while following the cricket.

Really nice bowling from Jahzara Claxton. She just brought that extra pace and shape away. A really nice action, she presents the seam and gets her fingers rolling down the back of it.

For the second over is succession Amy Jones' outside edge is beaten as Jahzara Claxton throws her hands into the air in dismay.

England's wicketkeeper follows up by meeting a slightly fuller delivery with the middle of her bat to take four more down the ground.

Stafanie Taylor is not in this West Indies team today. She is almost always guaranteed to score a 40 or 50 in ODI cricket and she is very irritating to bowl at. It is a big loss for them.

They don't have anyone intimidating. They are really missing Shamilia Connell and Chinelle Henry too.

Better! With the skies still as dark and grey as a Lowry painting, Aaliyah Alleyne finds a bit of movement to beat Amy Jones outside off stump.

It's looking far too easy out there for England. The singles are on offer and their boundaries aren't really getting blocked off.

West Indies have deep square out even though England are not really hitting that part of the ground.

19-year-old seamer Jahzara Claxton is on now and she does have a bit more zip to her action. There's a little bit more pace but if anything that seems to have helped Amy Jones as she eases the ball for the latest boundary in another otherwise quiet over.

    All too easy.

Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones have now shared 1,000 runs as an opening pair in ODI cricket, in their 20th time batting together at the top.

It is England’s fourth most productive opening pair in ODI history.

Beaumont and Jones at the top of the order:

    • Innings: 20
    • Average 53
    • Run-rate 5.24
    • Fifty stands: Six
    • Hundred stands: Four

Another fumble at extra cover allows a single to be jogged.

The gentle bowling continues with Aaliyah Alleyne brought on for the first time.

Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont just do not look troubled and there has been some generous fielding too.

It is a nice flat wicket here at Derbyshire, which makes it quite a rhythmic pitch. It is also quite slow which is why Nat chose to bat.

I found it plays similar to the pitch at Bristol but you can extract that extra little bit of bounce if you know where to bowl.

That's the first powerplay done. England have made steady progress...

"She always has a pained face," says Katherine Sciver-Brunt on TMS about her former housemate Amy Jones. I think Jones would take it well.

Jones does has that puzzled look whenever she is batting and it's on show here after she clatters Cherry-Ann Fraser through the covers on the cut.

This time she goes big. Hammered away for a one-bounce four. A really nice controlled shot from Amy Jones.

As Finny has been saying, England have not been overly attacking by any means so far but here Amy Jones shows some positive intent with a clubbing strike over mid-on. It's not far from the game's first six but bounces a few yards inside the rope.

You hope that West Indies are reinvigorated by a change of format, after their poor T20 series. Sometimes that format change brings a change of fortune but we haven't seen them be that incisive with the new ball so far.

It hasn't been the cleanest of starts from West Indies and now wicketkeeper Mandy Mangru fumbles one down the leg side behind the stumps. It's given as a wide but I thought I heard a noise. It would have been interesting whether a review would have come had the ball been taken.

Another misfield comes later in the over too.

  20. Eng 29-0published at 7 overs

    The pattern continues.

A bit of blocking, a bit of nudging and a bad ball sent to the fence. This time it's Tammy Beaumont dispatching spinner Zaida James.
