It’s been a tough year for Southern Brave in the powerplay. They have averaged just 17 with the bat in the first phase, seven runs fewer than the second lowest team (Manchester Originals).

  2. Brave 37-3published at 30 balls

Leus du Plooy out at number five for Southern Brave.

He takes two through third off his second ball then adds a single in the leg side.

A great start from Ben Kellaway. There wasn't much bounce on that delivery again - the ball seems to be keeping very low.

    Coles b Kellaway 7 (Brave 34-3)

    Kept low and bowled!

Welsh Fire introduce ambidextrous spinner Ben Kellaway - bowling with his right-hand, for the record - and he cleans up James Coles.

Not much lift off the pitch and the Brave batter might feel entitled to be somewhat annoyed.

I have never seen such a clear review as that for quite some time. Mike Burns will not want to see that again.

    That's why.

He fair bit of contact on the gloves as the ball headed to Roy's pads.

    Decision overturned.

Jason Roy reviewed that straight away. He is nodding as if he hit it.

And does Green have a wicket with his first ball?

He's struck Jason Roy on the pads as the batter tries a sweep.

After a pause, umpire Mike Burns' finger goes up, and Roy reviews immediately.

James Coles had had a good competition against the quicker bowlers, scoring 81 runs with just one dismissal. However, he has struggled against the spinners, with just 41 runs scored and three dismissals (avg 14).

James Coles adds his first boundary from the final ball of Riley Meredith's set, cracking the ball through the mid-off region.

Spinning all-rounder Chris Green, who's heading off the Caribbean Premier League after this match, is going to bowl the last set of the powerplay.

    Brave 22-2published at 16 balls

    Back-to-back boundary clearances!

This time it's Riley Meredith who gets the treatment from Jason Roy, seeing his first delivery smacked over the mid-wicket ropes.

A brilliant first six of the day. It was very well struck.

This is what Jason Roy does so well, he is so powerful and strong. Stand and deliver.

    Brave 16-2published at 15 balls

    Bang!

James Coles takes a single off his first ball to bring Jason Roy back on strike and David Payne fires down a delivery that cuts between the number three's bat and body.

No matter, Roy punches the following delivery over mid-wicket for the game's first six.

James Vince has not looked threatening at all in this tournament. He was looking to drive it through the cover region but it clattered the bails.

He is normally one of the most outstanding players you think of in this competition.

James Vince's competition comes to an end with a whimper.

It will be interesting to see if the men take anything from the women's game. There was some spin on offer and a little bit of turn - will we see spin early?

  20. Brave 9-1published at 10 balls

Ooooh, a brisk final delivery from Meredith and goes up for an appeal after hitting new batter Jason Roy on the pads.

Nothing from the umpire - probably heading down leg.
