And then finishes the over with a six down the ground!

Maybe he doesn't need his knee, just stand deep in the crease and whack it straight.

The spin that Zampa produced from the first ball already seems a distant memory. That was some strike from England's captain.

    Adil Rashid, are you watching?

Adam Zampa starts his spell by producing some genuine spin, ripping one past Harry Brook's defence.

Brook is still limping a little but he finds the boundary with a glorious late-dab down to deep third.

Harry Brook is hobbling down to the other end and he looks to be in some pain. He's down on one knee and might be in some trouble.

  4. Eng 90-2published at 14 overs

More good work from Aaron Hardie, this time in the field as he denies Harry Brook a boundary out at deep mid-wicket with a full-stretch dive.

Brook is then whacked in the knee by Mitchell Starc, which doesn't look enjoyable. Ben Duckett has no sympathy, calling him through for a single regardless and Brook eventually hobbles his way down for a leg-bye.

A decent return from Starc, changing ends after his expensive start.

There's been a bit of movement from the bowlers so far today, but England have chanced their luck and they are definitely moving nicely here.

  6. Eng 87-2published at 13 overs

Another boundary-less over from the impressive Aaron Hardie, whose first two balls were clubbed for six by Phil Salt but he's fought back well since.

Australia are just squeezing things, with the benefit of more fielders out on the boundary to keep England in check.

Harry Brook started slowly, but he's had enough of that. This one just took the toe of his bat, but it went flying away!

  8. Eng 83-2published at 12 overs

It's been a very disciplined start from Australia to Harry Brook, never straying from the stumps.

The response? Brook gets down on one knee and ramps Josh Hazlewood for four.

    Unbelievable.

  9. Eng 77-2published at 11 overs

Ben Duckett starts the over with a punch down the ground for four, before Aaron Hardie responds with five dots, testing his patience on off stump.

There's very minimal footwork from Duckett and the Australian bowlers are desperate to exploit that.

This is the seventh time England have scored more than 70 runs inside the powerplay in an ODI against Australia - England went on win on all six previous occasions.

Things have calmed down a little bit since Phil Salt got out.

Ben Duckett drives for three as the ball just plugs in the damp outfield, before Harry Brook is denied a streaky boundary by a diving Matt Short at second slip.

A good powerplay for England, thanks to Salt and Duckett who has 28 to his name so far. A frenetic but entertaining opening burst!

  12. Eng 70-2published at 9 overs

Harry Brook, the man in form, joins Ben Duckett in the middle.

It's a wicket maiden from Aaron Hardie, a great response after he was taken apart by Phil Salt in his opening over.

That is a pretty serious ball from Aaron Hardie, actually! it nipped back from outside the off stump and went through the gate.

    Jacks b Hardie 0 (Eng 70-2)

    Oh, a beauty.

Will Jacks departs for a four-ball duck but there's not much blame on him for this one. Just getting settled into his innings, he's bowled by a nip-backer from Aaron Hardie that jags through his bat and pad.

Two quick wickets for Australia just pegs England back a bit, after their flying start.

If Josh Hazlewood shakes his head anymore it'll fall off.

  16. Eng 70-1published at 8 overs

Josh Hazlewood cannot believe his luck.

An authoritative pull for four by Ben Duckett is sandwiched by two streaky edges for the same result. One is chopped past the stumps, the next is slashed past slip.

Duckett gives a guilty grin, as the runs keep flowing despite Phil Salt's departure.

Phil Salt gets a round of applause from the crowd for the way in which he has played today, but he will be kicking himself. He was off and running, but he was in fifth gear and that can be your downfall when you are playing in the manner that he plays.

    But Aaron Hardie fights back.

He goes to a death bowling plan, putting a fielder out on the point boundary and going for wide yorkers. Phil Salt falls for the trap, slashing it out to Marnus Labuschagne who takes a smart catch diving forward, the ball just a few inches off the ground.

A strange innings from Salt, going for 45 from 27 balls with five four and three sixes, but he's got England off to a flyer.

  19. Eng 58-0published at 6.5 overs

    Chaos. Pure chaos.

Glenn Maxwell pulls off a scrambling save at mid-off to prevent a third successive boundary, and Salt is almost run out. Maxwell's throw is a little wild because he was still in the process of his dive, which saves England's opener.

Salt responds by slashing a wider ball past point for four more. He looks so much more comfortable against Hardie's medium pace than the constant threat of the Starc-Hazlewood combination.
