    Powered over the long-off ropes!

A first six for Dunkley, sending De Klerk's ball flying towards the advertising hoardings.

Two balls earlier she'd had a practice run, but saw the ball plug just short of the boundary, then bounce over for four.

  2. Eng 74-1published at 7 overs

Danni Wyatt-Hodge scored 78 at Benoni, and she seems minded to make a similar score tonight.

She hits Sekhukhune for consecutive fours to end the over, the first an edge past the keeper, the second a meaty pull through backward square.

  3. Eng 65-1published at 6.2 overs

    Pure power from Dunkley!

She expansively drives Tumi Sekhukhune, the ball flying off the bat for a one-bounce four.

England have passed 60 inside the powerplay for the fifth time this year - they'd only done so four times in T20Is before this year.

  5. Eng 61-1published at 6 overs

Sophia Dunkley in at three for England.

She guides her first ball down to third for a single, then Wyatt-Hodge smashes the final ball of the over through point for four.

That's the end of the powerplay, a good one for England despite the recent loss of Bouchier.

That will probably be the best catch of Nondumiso Shangase's life!

  7. wicket

    Bouchier c Shangase b Hlubi 35 (Eng 56-1)

    Four more then gone!

Bouchier strikes successive fours with a wristy shot over point, but has to depart from the following delivery.

She tries to loft Hlubi over mid-on, but doesn't quite get enough on it and Nondumiso Shangase rises majestically to pluck the ball out of the air.

    A superb catch.

It would be a hot time for Ayanda Hlubi to get a wicket. She is finding her feet, but if she can not give them any width and make them do everything, she might just pinch a wicket.

  9. Eng 52-0published at 5.2 overs

Up comes the England 50 off 32 balls, as Bouchier clouts Hlubi over mid-on for four.

Chloe Tryon would never normally bowl in the powerplay but the responsibility of captaincy forces you to take a step-up for the team and try to make something happen.

  11. Eng 48-0published at 5 overs

A first sight of spin as Chloe Tryon introduces her own left-arm deliveries.

She drifts wide with her second delivery and Bouchier hungrily lashes her through the covers.

  13. Wyatt-Hodge dropped on 11published at 4 overs

    Eng 39-0

A first change for South Africa as Nadine de Klerk comes into the attack after one over of Hlubi.

She almost has a wicket with her third ball - Wyatt-Hodge tries to club her down the ground and De Klerk gets one hand on the ball while on the jump.

A tough chance, she got closer than you might expect, but the South Africa bowler is evidently disappointed she failed to hold onto the ball.

Just two runs from the opening delivery of the over, a good start for De Klerk despite missing that chance.

There is not a lot of conversation going on between the South Africa bowlers and their captain to discuss plans of which balls to bowl to who.

Maia Bouchier strikes at 132 and averages 35 against the short ball in T20 cricket - no batter in the England side scores quicker against the short ball than her.

Maia Bouchier didn't swing at that with a lot of aggression, she just uses the elevation well. Captaincy is needed here to know that it would have been better to bowl that ball to Wyatt-Hodge.

  17. 6 runs

    Eng 37-0published at 3 overs

And now a six for Bouchier!

Slightly short from Marx with not much pace and the England opener pulls her over the boundary ropes at square leg.

Marx finishes her over with a pair of wide balls, before getting Bouchier to defend the legitimate delivery.

South Africa should be looking to whack this ball into Wyatt-Hodge as much as they can as she doesn't like the short ball at the best of times.

  19. Eng 26-0published at 2.3 overs

Another four for Bouchier as Marx drifts onto the legs of the England opener, who dispatches her through square leg.

A single brings Wyatt-Hodge to the crease and she cleaves the ball over the covers for four.

Maia Bouchier needs to get some runs today. No-one's place in the team is guaranteed with an Ashes round the corner so she needs to use this opportunity to prove herself.
