He tries a straighter one next ball but doesn't get enough on it and picks out Jacob Bethell.

  3. Postpublished at 13 overs

    Bears v Gloucs 93-4

  5. ‘Pressure on the batsmen’published at 19:47 British Summer Time 6 September

    Bears v Glos 83-4

    Ed Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol

You continue to feel this weight, this pressure on the batsmen’s shoulders.

You have to credit the Bears’ plans with the ball to Jack Taylor too.

    WICKET J Taylor c Davies b Foulkes 2published at 11.2 overs

    Bears v Gloucs 79-4

Zak Foulkes re-enters the attack with some pace.

Straight up and down into Alex Davies' gloves.

    Gloucestershire in some trouble.

  7. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 11 overs

A life for Cameron Bancroft on 30.

He checks a drive and the ball hangs in the Birmingham sky long enough for Jacob Bethell to get around from long off to extra cover.

You expect Bethell to take everything based on his reputation but that spills through his fingers.

"Having been flying at 50-1 in the fifth over, Gloucestershire are not floundering exactly but have been rattled by the persistence of the spinners."

Ged Scott, BBC Sport at Edgbaston

It's a lovely late summer's evening in the second city.

The locals were in good voice at kick-off time, the Hollies Stand looks not far short of full. The liquid refreshment sales have clearly gone well. And, apart from running out of red sauce, the pre-match fish and chips were up to Edgbaston's usual standards.

The only flaw was not being able to get any Gloucestershire wickets - so the relief when the Bears finally broke through was immense! And now a second wicket too.

A lot of "Hugh Bears" suddenly reverberating round the ground

  13. wicket

WICKET Bracey lbw Briggs 7published at 19:33 British Summer Time 6 September

    Bears v Gloucs 70-2

    Plumb.

  14. Postpublished at 8 overs

    Bears v Gloucs 65-1

Moeen Ali was announced as a replacement player for CPL side Guyana Amazon Warriors today.

He will only head over to the Caribbean once the Bears' Blast campaign is over - either tomorrow or after next Saturday.

Tidy start with the ball from him.

  15. Postpublished at 19:30 British Summer Time 6 September

    Ed Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol

"It's one referral per innings and they didn't go upstairs for that one."

  16. Postpublished at 7 overs

    Bears v Gloucs 60-1

Whether it is the extra men out, the fall of that wicket or Danny Briggs' introduction, there feels like there's been a shift in momentum.

Briggs only goes for four in his first over, and thought he had a good lbw shout - umpire's call would have been the verdict if they'd used a review.

Moeen Ali to pair with Briggs in these middle overs.

  17. Powerplay Overpublished at 6 overs

    Bears v Gloucs 54-1

Dan Mousley keeps it tight to end the powerplay, just three runs from the sixth.

Gloucestershire have a flier but that wicket has pulled them back slightly, and puts a positive on the scoreboard for the hosts.

  18. wicket

WICKET Hammond c Lintott b Mousley 30published at 5.2 overs

    Bears v Gloucs 50-1

    Dan MousleyImage source, Getty Images

Miles Hammond plinks Dan Mousley to mid-off where Jake Lintott takes the ball and a tumble.

The third umpire checks if the ball remained ungrounded, which it did.

  19. Postpublished at 5 overs

    Bears v Gloucs 50-0

Watching Miles Hammond is like watching Erling Haaland.

No, it isn't the straw-coloured hair. It's his ability to hit a hat trick!

Hammond drills through the covers, gets a little lucky with an outside edge and then nails through midwicket in a trio of deliveries.

50 up for the Glos in no time. This really is a belting pitch!

  20. Postpublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 6 September

    Melissa Story
    BBC Gloucestershire commentator

"It's been a dream start - apart from that third over by Gleeson."
