  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 14 April

    Wells c Keogh b Harrison 39 (Lancs 228 & 344-8 v Northants 496)

10 wickets in the match for Calvin Harrison!

Luke Wells is forward to block and he's looped up a bat-pad catch for Rob Keogh at a backward short leg.

The lead is 76 and we have 14 overs left.

    Tom Hartley is in next.

  2. Postpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 264-5 - target 377 to beat Surrey

There's some encouragement for Surrey bowler Matt Fisher, who is getting some late swing and movement off the seam.

Tom Prest is squared up a little as he jabs the last ball of the 94th over safely into the off side for a single.

At this late stage it looks like we'll get either a hard fought draw or a Surrey win.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 14 April

Ali c Robinson b Doggett 3 (Warwickshire 295-8, target 339 to beat Durham)

    EIGHT DOWN.

Poor old 18-year-old Taz Ali might never see a situation like this again in his career.

Brendan Doggett tempts him into a drive but he can only flash an edge through to Ollie Robinson to take behind the pipes.

Ethan Bamber is the new man, Michael Booth still there on 27*

44 needed for victory, or two wickets...

How can you not love county cricket?

  4. Postpublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 295-7, target 339 to beat Durham

Short ball from Brendan Doggett draws a swivelling pull from Michael Booth who gets a top edge which flies just out of the grasp of the diving Ollie Robinson, who is 1/4 springer spaniel.

Another boundary closer to the target.

    44 required.

  5. NOTTS DRAW WITH ESSEXpublished at 31 overs

    Notts 347 & 385 v Essex 367 & 106-1

A bit of a flat end to a match which started this morning seemingly with everything on the table, the two captains Tom Westley and Haseeb Hameed shaking hands on the draw at 5.00pm.

Paul Walter on an unbeaten 41 and Westley with 28 are the two batsmen who held firm to put this game out of reach of Notts.

But in truth the home side were all too happy to accept the points on offer by batting long enough to take anything more swashbuckling out of the equation.

For that, Notts batter Jack Haynes will no doubt thank his captain having posted a PB in the second innings with 142 – a sixth first class century and a first since joining Notts.

Notts other positive was South African Kyle Verreynne whose unbeaten 128 in the first innings rescued the home side when they were well and truly under the pump at 78-5 at lunch on the first morning.

Essex shade the equation with 14 points to Nottinghamshire's 13 and both will be happy with their four day's work.

  6. Postpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 341-7 v Northants 496

Five close catchers around the bat for left arm spinner Saif Zaib and Luke Wells pushes the ball safely past forward short leg.

This feels a bit like now or never for Northants.

Calvin Harrison is bowling his 52nd over from the other end and his first ball is turned past forward short leg by Wells for one.

Four close catchers in for the leg spinner.

Solid defence on the front foot. We're into the last hour of play now and the Lancashire lead is 73.

  7. 'An incredible turn of events'published at 17:03 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 285-7 - target 339 to beat Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

He walked off with his hands clamped to his head.

It's an incredible turn of events, Barnard is absolutely raging with himself.

Fair play to Ollie Robinson who takes the catch, but what a twist, on 101 runs.

    24 overs to go.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 14 April

Barnard c Robinson b Doggett 101 (Warwickshire 285-7, target 339 to beat Durham)

    AND GONE NEXT BALL...

Oh Ed Barnard. He follows one from Brendan Doggett and gets a leg side glance which he intends to go to the rope but instead is caught by Ollie Robinson diving to his left.

How big is that for Durham?

Teenager Taz Ali is in at nine.

  9. 100 runs

100 for Ed Barnardpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 285-6, target 339 to beat Durham

Ed Barnard posts a potentially priceless century for Warwickshire - his eighth in first class cricket.

It's come from 133 balls, sealed with a streaky bottom edge off Brendan Doggett for a couple.

The celebrations are somewhat muted given the context of the game.

His job isn't done yet. 54 to win...

  10. Postpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 257-5 - target 377 to beat Surrey

The Hampshire 250 arrives in the 91st over via a drive through point off a thick side edge for two by Tom Prest, facing Jordan Clark.

Five singles off the over in all.

Prest drives Matt Fisher through long off for four.

  11. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 335-7 v Northants 496

Lancashire have offered plenty of resistance but there's still time for Northants, still less than 70 adrift with 18 overs left after this one from Raphy Weatherall.

He bowls round the wicket and down the leg side to Tom Bailey who lets the ball pass him.

Calvin Harrison will now bowl his 51st over of the innings.

  12. 'We were comprehensively outplayed'published at 16:53 British Summer Time 14 April

Sussex beat Somerset by 260 runs

Lewis Gregory and Jack LeachImage source, Rex Features

    Somerset captain Lewis Gregory:

"We were comprehensively outplayed. (But) I can't fault the determination we showed against a good bowling attack on a pitch where if you put enough balls in the right areas there was something in it.

"We've had some really good discussions in the dressing room because over the last year or so our record away from home is not great. It is something we are going to have to try and get right.

"We've got a strong squad and some talented players and it's about trying to make us that bit more consistent."

  13. 'We've got a lot of learning to do'published at 16:52 British Summer Time 14 April

Sussex beat Somerset by 260 runs

    Paul FarbraceImage source, Rex Features

    Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace:

"It's a good win against a strong Somerset side, it will do our confidence good to beat a team consistently challenging over the last few years.

"I thought up until lunchtime today we played really good cricket and put ourselves in a great position but this afternoon it was no surprise that we dropped catches because our enthusiasm and body language dropped off.

"We can't afford to have sessions like that. We were so far ahead in the game it didn't matter too much, but it's a good lesson for us.

"We've made a good start but we've got a lot of learning to do."

  14. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 247-5 - target 377 to beat Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

"It will be an interesting half an hour now."

"It just gives Surrey a little bit of a lift."

  15. GLOUCESTERSHIRE DRAW WITH GLAMORGANpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 14 April

    #bbccricket

Just to confirm our suspicions from 4.28pm, the sides have indeed shaken hands on a draw.

A dozen games at Bristol without a win for the Shire dating back to September 2022, now...

  16. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 247-5 - target 377 to beat Surrey

A nervous start for Tom Prest who tries to defend and is beaten outside the off stump.

    Game on.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 14 April

Gubbins LBW b Fisher 117 (Hants 247-5 - target 377 to beat Surrey)

Out! Matt Fisher strikes for Surrey!

He switches to round the wicket and Nick Gubbins has missed an attempted hit to the leg side boundary.

An epic innings comes to an end and Tom Prest is in next.

  18. Postpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 272-6, target 339 to beat Durham

    Brutal for Durham.

A throw comes in from sub fielder Paul Coughlin at third and Will Rhodes can't stop it, Alex Lees wasn't quite backing up and the balls races away for four overthrows.

Eyes like daggers in every direction.

    67 required.

    Durham need something, quick...

  19. Postpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 330-7 v Northants 496

Luke Wells punches a ball from Raphy Weatherall through cover for a couple of runs.

Plenty of short-pitched bowling in this over and Luke Wells decides not to take it on.

Weatherall switches to over the wicket and Wells gets one to deep fine leg.

Tom Bailey evades a leg side bumper to see out the over.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 61.2 overs

    Madsen b Mike 96 (Derbys 231-4 & 393, target 449) v Leics 484 & 357-9d

Wayne Madsen was looking to cut a widish delivery but he has got an inside edge and dragged it on to his stumps.

Ben Mike takes his first wicket and ends a brisk innings (114 balls) from the Derbyshire skipper as this match trundles towards a draw.
