Glamorgan 280-4 – lead Gloucestershire by 119 runs

Another Gloucestershire game at Bristol, another game petering out on the final afternoon.

The new ball has helped Glamorgan more than the hosts, seemingly, as Colin Ingram has moved onto 70* while Ben Kellaway has a breezy 30*.

It's looking like 12 home games without a win for the Shire, dating back to 2022.

  2. Play resumes at Old Traffordpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 303-6 v Northants 496

    Well, this could be intense.

The lead is a slender 35 and barring a decline in the weather there are still 33 overs left.

Lancashire will need to bat for most of them.

George Balderson takes guard to part time off spinner George Bartlett on 0 not out off four deliveries.

    Luke Wells has 14.

  3. new ball

Hants 220-4 - target 377 to beat Surrey

Surrey take it at the first opportunity and two slips are in for Jordan Clark, who immediately beats Nick Gubbins outside off stump.

Is that the first time his footwork has faltered in this innings?

Dan Lawrence bowls to Nick Gubbins on 99.

He's got it! Back and across to thump through the off side for the precious single.

His first hundred of the season and his 10th in all first class cricket.

    215 balls with 10 fours.

  7. 'We all thought they'd be six or seven down'published at 16:05 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 216-4 - target 377 to beat Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Still probably too much to do in this final session.

It's been an absolute terrific effort from Hampshire and to only lose the one wicket has been excellent, we all thought they'd be six or seven down by now.

The new ball will be very interesting, it can bring you wickets, but it can also bring the boundaries.

  8. Play resumes at the Ovalpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 216-4 - target 377 to beat Surrey

We're back on at the Oval for the final session of the match.

  9. SUSSEX WIN BY 260 RUNSpublished at 99.3 overs

    Sussex 294 & 501-7d v Somerset 201 & 334

    Sussex celebrateImage source, Rex Features

And Fynn Hudson-Prentice wraps up a first win for Sussex on their return to the top flight at the second attempt and a first since September 2015 with the wicket of Lewis Gregory.

James Coles does the business taking a sharp chance at third slip after Hudson-Prenctice gets the outside edge. It brings to an end a partnership of 30 for the final wicket between Gregory and Jack Leach.

It was a victory built on terrific bowling effort from Sean Hunt, who finished injured but with 9-72 in the match, and Hudson-Prentice in the first innings with 4-31 and five in the match.

And with the bat a dominant second innings effort with 141 from Tom Haines, 110 from John Simpson and 91 from Daniel Hughes saw Sussex take the game away from the visitors.

A steady stream of wickets which fell around the sole skyscraper of Tom Abell's 96 ensured that Somerset were only ever staving off defeat rather than chasing victory.

For Sussex this will fuel belief that Paul Farbrace is building a viable Division One outfit rather than one for which survival should be the limit of ambition.

Somerset have much to ponder not least of which the make up of their opening partnership after a defeat to follow the most frustrating of draws against Worcs in round one.

  11. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 17 overs

    Essex 60-1 & 367 (need 306 runs) v Notts 347 & 385

Off they go tea and a chat about when they will call time on this.

That was the part-session when Notts needed to make significant breakthroughs but the wicket of Charlie Allison is all they have to show for their efforts.

Essex have no interest in a nominal chase of 306 more runs so it will be a handshake and a draw at some point.

    First... sandwiches and cake.

  12. Back on at Bristolpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 14 April

Glamorgan 257-4 – lead Gloucestershire by 96 runs

It's still drizzling at Bristol but we are back out in the murk.

New ball is due. Light meters are out to see if the Shire quick bowlers are able to use it.

All a little farcical today, in fairness...

Ajeet SIngh Dale gets the nod to deliver the fresh cherry, but for how long.

  13. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 303-6 v Northants 496

  14. Tea at the Ovalpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 216-4 - target 377 to beat Surrey

A thoroughly satisfying session of play for Hampshire who dare to dream going into the final session of this match.

An unbeaten 50 for Toby Albert and Nick Gubbins is 97 not out.

161 in a session to reach the target is a lot though!

  15. Tea at CLSpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 226-5, target 339 to beat Durham

Kai Smith and Ed Barnard have put on 136 in an unbroken middle session at the Riverside and have given their side a real chance of pulling off a victory which looked highly unlikely when lunch arrived with them 90-5.

They need 113 runs in 34 overs after tea. Durham need a wicket, desperately...

    WICKETpublished at 15.2 overs

    Allison lbw b Hutton 28 (Essex 50-1 & 367 (need 316 runs)

Notts have a breakthrough as Charlie Allison is beaten trying to clip the ball into the leg side, Brett Hutton getting the wicket.

Too little, too late you would think but, who knows.

  19. Postpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 220-5, target 339 to beat Durham

    119 required.

Daniel Hogg gives up a couple of boundaries to Ed Barnard who us 64*.

Durham need tea and some fresh ideas with a ball they'll be using for 19 more overs as they are bleeding runs at the moment - asking rate is only three an over now.

  20. dropped catch

Leach dropped on 9published at 94 overs

    Somerset 324-9 & 201 (target 595) v Sussex 294 & 501-7d

Tom Haines has put down a relatively easy chance off Jack Leach on 9 as Sussex's catching continues to fail them.

That was a straightforward edge off the bowling of James Coles and that should have been the match.
