  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 40.1 overs

    Curran c Hetmyer b Motie 37 (Eng 187-8)

    Gone. England in big trouble.

Sam Curran decides now is the time to go big but is unable to hit the first ball of Gudakesh Motie's final over off the meet of the bat.

As a result he cannot get the distance and Shimron Hetmyer takes a comfortable catch down at long-on.

    Carl Whoooooo-per.

  3. Eng 187-7published at 40 overs

Jayden Seales has a determined and focused expression on his face as he bounds into the crease.

Rather awkwardly Adil Rashid digs out a full delivery from Seales into the leg side, then later in the over defends high to pick up a single down at third.

Sam Curran knows that he has to bat through the innings for England.

  5. Eng 181-7published at 39 overs

    A lot on Sam Curran's shoulders here. He's 34* off 52 balls.

A lot of negative Nellys out there - tough pitch and very inexperienced side. I’m all for England being more experimental and you can’t expect the Test players to be in every series - that’s how they break.

    Matt

I love all the negativity. Playing too slowly...need to build a partnership.... England reach 260 and rattle through the Windies top order. Bookmark me.

Adil Rashid survives the hat-trick ball from Gudakesh Motie.

Overton won’t want to watch that back. Looking to sweep a slow left-armer off your first ball is brave when it works; foolhardy when it doesn’t.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38.3 overs

    Overton b Motie 0 (Eng 179-7)

Three reds and Jamie Overton departs for a first-ball duck on his ODI debut.

  10. West Indies reviewpublished at 38.3 overs

Jamie Overton attempts to sweep and is struck on the pad by Gudakesh Motie. This looks close, and West Indies go for the review after it is given not out on the field.

Mousley undone by the breeze as he looked to clear the boundary.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38.2 overs

    Mousley c Lewis b Motie 8 (Eng 179-6)

Dan Mousley goes down on one knee and slog-sweeps Gudakesh Motie square. But it's into the breeze and Evin Lewis pouches the catch on the fence.

  13. Eng 177-5published at 38 overs

The left-handed Dan Mousley drives, uppish, to a wide delivery outside off stump angled across him from Jayden Seales and a thick edge takes it down to third.

Once again England struggle to find the boundary and settle for five singles off the over - a brisk Seales bumper the only non-scoring shot.

Dan Mousley is another player to have graduated from England Under-19s duty to international honours via franchise cricket. He is an off-spinning batting all-rounder, with a not-so-shabby List A average of 38 for Warwickshire and seven wickets at 25.

Oh, and he supports Aston Villa.

  16. Eng 172-5published at 37 overs

Quite a few fans at North Sound are milling about behind the stands buying all manner of drink and food options. It's ticking round to 4.45pm in the afternoon in Antigua and Barbuda.

Sam Curran and Dan Mousley farm the strike off Gudakesh Motie's eighth over. Four singles from it.

These England players are showing how poor they are playing on slow pitches. Complete lack of patience and ability to judge the conditions.

  20. dropped catch

Curran dropped on 28published at 35.1 overs

In the manner of a few England batters in this innings, Sam Curran skies one just outside the circle attempting to go big against Jayden Seales.

Keacy Carty is running to get under it but, with the ball coming over his shoulder, ends up spilling a diving catch.
