Tahila McGrath gets one to stick in the pitch which draws a leading edge from the bat of Pratika Rawal, who attempts to work it to leg.

The ball spoons up and Alana King races in from mid-wicket, gets her hands to it diving forward, but cannot quite scoop it cleanly and ends up spilling the chance.

    India fans

Arriving at the ground today, the big thing to notice is the number of replica shirts bearing the names of Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur.

India cricket fans love their star players – where once it was just Virat and Dhoni adorning the famous blue jerseys, now there are heroes across both national sides.

Eight runs from this over, and suddenly, an over that looked like it was won by Australia, India have found a boundary easily, and the pressure that was building has dissipated.

India 90-0 at drinkspublished at 17 overs

After a steady start, India's innings has real momentum.

A couple of wickets for Australia, however, could change everything.

  5. Ind 89-0published at 16.5 overs

Clever batting from India's openers as they milk singles off the start of Annabel Sutherland's over.

Sutherland bangs it in short to Pratika Rawal with the penultimate ball of the over and the India batter picks up the length quickly and rather dismissively pulls it for four through mid-wicket.

Few concerns here from Australia as they are unable to break this partnership. I'm sure Alyssa Healy's chatty nature from behind the stumps is chipping away at reminding her teammates that one wicket here breaks open the innings.

  7. Ind 82-0published at 16 overs

India's opening pair look very much at home against whatever spin Australia have dished up thus far.

Ash Gardner is twice punished by Smriti Mandhana, who capitalising on a bit of width to pick two fours in the over. The second was a devilishly crisp cut.

Australia's bowlers, and their spinners in particular, are scratching their heads at the moment.

Annabel Sutherland is bowling well here.

She's arrowing the ball in at off stump, using subtle changes of pace, and her three overs have cost just eight runs as a result.

A little bit of innovation there from Smriti Mandhana, thinking about where the gaps are. Slightly premeditated, but she has executed it very well, and it's gone for four.

  10. Ind 71-0published at 14 overs

A cheeky lap shot from Smriti Mandhana off Ash Gardner brings her four off the first ball of the off-spinner's over. Gardner responds by fizzing one past the edge of the India opener's bat.

Australia ponder a review, but decline to take matters any further.

Pratika Rawal found the gap in the field, just about, and it was a good bouncer there from Annabel Sutherland. It got up high at an awkward height, but it was never really a chance there for Ash Gardener.

  12. Ind 65-0published at 13 overs

First real glimmer of a chance for Australia on this featherbed of a pitch in Visakhapatnam.

A bouncer from Annabel Sutherland is hooked by Pratika Rawal towards deep square leg.

It hasn't got enough power on it and Ash Gardner comes racing in, but it falls just short and the Aussie cannot quite get her hands under the catch.

A change of ends for Ash Gardner also seems an effective piece of cricketing hunch from Alyssa Healy.

Just a single taken off her third over.

Here's one of Smriti Mandhana's sixes off Sophie Molineux from a little earlier.

When you look down this Australian line-up, with five seam options and three spin options, they are blessed with all-rounders. But it is very smart with India here as they haven't let the spinners settle and essentially hit them out of the attack and forced Australia to make the change.

  15. Ind 58-0published at 11 overs

Alyssa Healy goes back to seam and it does the trick.

Annabel Sutherland gets through an over of seam up and ties up Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal.

  16. Ind 60-0published at 10 overs

Alyssa Healy bravely sticks with Sophie Molineux.

The left-arm spinner is picked off with a cover drive for four before tightening up her line.

Brilliant over there from India. That's the last thing you want as a bowler after bringing in square, and you are trying to bowl a little bit fuller, but you drop it short, and Smriti comfortably gets in position and pulls it.

Pratika Rawal this time, with a slog off the front foot for six which sails over the boundary sponge.

Not too dissimilar to the shot she played two balls before. She seemed confident that it was going all the way. Beautiful shot from Smriti there.

More punishment for Sophie Molineux at the end of the over.

This time Smriti Mandhana brutally pulls it for four to the boundary.
