Dave: Well it isn't going to get any easier to bat on....that Jamie Smith innings and century partnership with Atkinson could well prove decisive.

  2. Pak 6-0published at 1.2 overs

69.2 overs into the day and we're going to get the first look at some pace bowling.

Pakistan didn't fancy it but Ben Stokes has turned to Gus Atkinson.

This is the first time in Test history that the first innings of a Test match hasn't had any balls bowled by a pace bowler.

There's no big turn for Jack Leach in this opening over with Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique confidently getting their innings under way. Both Pakistan openers have scored runs during this series but never in partnership together.

There are 18 overs left today so we will finish on time around 13:00 BST.

England have to retain patience. If you try and chase wickets like Pakistan did at the start of that hundred partnership, they won't come.

For now, though, it's going to be Jack Leach with the new ball.

Shoaib Bashir and Rehan Ahmed will be two of England's biggest threats during this next hour and a bit.

If you were listening at tea you'd have heard a lovely chat they had with TMS' Aatif Nawaz on their cricket, faith and identity as British Pakistanis.

You can listen to it here or read the best bits over here.

That innings is the second-longest in Test history to be bowled entirely by spinners.

Remember England have picked three spinners today with Gus Atkinson and Ben Stokes their only pace options.

It's likely to be spin-heavy bowling from them too.

It's very hard to quantify what we've seen today on this wicket.

This is going to be a really fascinating evening of play, we're probably going to see a spin attack from England. If Pakistan are able to work with this pitch, we could see a high first-innings score.

Sajid Khan gets another one, we can now see the true conditions of this pitch.

    WICKETpublished at 68.2 overs

Leach st Rizwan b Sajid 16 (Eng 267 all out)

Jack Leach is out this time and so are England. Leach is the latest batter to come charging down and more significant spin leaves him stranded as the ball misses bat.

England's score is less than it should have been but more than it could have been. It's OK but by no means match-winning.

Junaid in Leeds: Came to the office this morning, as the only Pakistan fan, gloating to all the England cricket fans at work (including the girlfriend of England international Matt Fisher). I am now sat quietly in a corner staying out of sight.

It was a ripper of a turning delivery, however.

    Here's another review.

Sajid Khan seemed to suggest Jack Leach had missed this by an inch and none of the fielders really appealed by Pakistan are asking the question.

I don't think Shoaib Bashir's team-mates have much faith in him. They've all put their whites on.

  17. Eng 267-9published at 68 overs

    Leach 16, Bashir 1

Jack Leach was playing reverse sweeps in the previous over and now Shoaib Bashir is too. Leach's are okay. Bashir's less so but England do get two byes amid the swish of willow.

One ball from Noman almost gets through onto boot, having kept low like the one that scuttled to Ben Duckett earlier.

  19. Eng 259-9published at 67 overs

    Leach 13, Bashir 1

It's now a matter of how many more Jack Leach and Shoaib Bashir can scramble. They added a decent 29 at the end of the first innings of the second Test in Multan.

Rehan Ahmed just got away with the ball before, Sajid Khan anticipated that he would do the same so slightly changed the pace and it worked.
