    GET IN THERE LEACHY!

Having seen the replays, I perhaps didn't give Jack Leach enough credit.

It was a tempting delivery and enticed Saim Ayub out of his crease, there was a puff of dust when the ball pitched and enough turn to find the inside half of the bat.

Whatever it was, Ben Stokes loved it. He was beaming as he ran to Leach to celebrate.

Anyway, Kamran Ghulam is the new batter and pushed for two to get off the mark.

Little to explain why that happened really, just a lack of concentration after the break maybe.

That was such a good ball because it deceived Saim Ayub to step out of his crease into a bad position for that delivery.

  5. wicket

    Ayub c Root b Leach 19 (Pak 43-2)

    First ball after drinks!

It's a nothing shot from Saim Ayub, pushing at a full delivery from Jack Leach and just chipping to short mid-wicket.

Leach had changed the angle to round the wicket to the left-hander but it's hard to say that was what led to the mistake.

Whatever the reason, Ayub has to go as Skyfall by Adele blares out for umpteenth time today at Rawalpindi.

You've got to force Shan Masood to drive into the offside because that's not his area.

This could be an interesting period for England because they know he's not up to playing against off-spin.

    Thanks, Matt.

Things are just starting to happen for Shoaib Bashir now - and a very similar stage of the innings as Pakistan's spinners began to find reward.

It could make for a lively end to the day.

Ben Stokes and Joe Root are Shoaib Bashir's slip and gully and they're sniggering after a hideous swipe by Shan Masood. He looked to come down and bash Bashir but very nearly missed it.

Drinks are coming onto the field, which means it's time for me to hand to Sam Drury.

Shoaib Bashir has looked much better than Jack Leach so far.

There have been so much spin bowled today and therefore so many overs bowled that there are only eight of the usual 90 left in the day. If they bowl those before 13:00 BST we might even get a few extra in.

I'm not sure I've ever worked on a Test where that has happened.

This game makes for great viewing, anything can happen. If Pakistan get near England's score, the game is anyone's.

Pakistan skipper Shan Masood gets off the mark first ball.

Say what you like about the pitch but it has been really interesting cricket today.

Shoaib Bashir can be a handful on this surface because he's tall. The ball spun a little bit extra and that's what happens on this surface, the spin is more than you expect.

Not great technique in the end by Abdullah Shafique but good breakthrough for England.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.3 overs

    Shafique lbw b Bashir 14 (Pak 35-1)

It's so, so out. That's very similar to how Joe Root was out earlier.

Abdullah Shafique went onto the back foot to a ball which turned from an off-spinner. Once you miss that you're in trouble.

    Shoaib Bashir has England's first.

    Have England found their breakthrough?

  18. Pakistan reviewpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 24 October

This is it, surely this is the breakthrough?

Abdullah Shafique is hit on the pads going back to Shoaib Bashir.

Bashir was doing the Stuart Broad celebrappeal rather than turning to the umpire.

I think people are forgetting we were 70 odd for 1. Wait for the ball to soften and this can change very quickly.
