Sam Cook is managing to get a little bit extra out of this surface which we haven't seen so far.

Once we see this powerplay unfold, we will also see how impressive that knock by Joe Root really was.

  2. Invincibles 23-0published at 80 balls left

    Target 172

Sam Cook sticks with his metronomic line and length and gets out of his 10 balls in the powerplay by conceding just six runs.

What an effort, particularly against such a destructive opening duo.

Only Phil Salt (305 runs at Old Trafford) has more runs at a ground inside the powerplay in the Hundred than Will Jacks at The Oval. Jacks has scored 249 powerplay runs in 18 innings at The Oval and has survived beyond the powerplay in 10 of those 18 innings.

  4. Invincibles 17-0published at 85 balls left

    Target 172

A brilliant start from Sam Cook, just one leg bye conceded from his first five balls so he's going for 10 in a row.

A lovely stroke from Will Jacks punishing the length of Ben Sanderson. A change in the field came to counter that.

  6. Invincibles 16-0published at 90 balls left

    Target 172

In fairness, with the form that Will Jacks is in, he will target anyone in the powerplay.

Sanderson goes for a slower ball and Jacks clubs it over mid-off for four, but the bowler responds well by bringing the keeper up to the stumps and trapping Jacks in his crease.

Ben Sanderson is making his Hundred debut in place of the injured Lockie Ferguson.

There may be some nerves flying around for the Invincibles to target.

The flood lights will play a big role in this game. Will the ball skid on a bit more?

There is a real science behind it and it does make a difference. The ball skids onto the bat quicker particularly on a tackier wicket.

  9. Invincibles 8-0published at 95 balls left

    Target 172

    Crunched!

Tawanda Muyeye helps himself to the first boundary as David Willey bowls full, trying to get the ball to swing, but it sits up nicely to be driven to the ropes.

Positive start from the home side.

    The opposite of commentator's curse...

As Joe Root proved, it is a cracking batting surface.

Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye, the Invincibles' in-form openers, make their way to the middle. They'll be facing David Willey, who will also be confident after his 3-11 a couple of days ago.

    Let's hope we're in for a belter!

    Thanks, Mike.

I'm definitely not one to talk about dancing so let's stick to the cricket. Trent Rockets have a competitive total but this is an immense Oval Invincibles batting line-up.

I was at The Oval for their record 226 on Saturday and it was a sight to behold!

A challenging chase awaits the back-to-back champions Oval Invincibles.

    Will they make their target?

To answer that question, and possibly Alex's about dancing, here's Ffion Wynne.

What is it with the Oval Invincibles and dancing? Jordan Cox with 'the money' celebration after completing an impressive run out from long-on.

Sam Hain finishes the innings with a single to long-off.

    Oval Invincibles will chase 172.

The highest score of the season for Trent Rockets and the joint-fifth highest in the competition this season.

Stoinis run out (Cox) 12 (Rockets 169-7)

    Run-out from the deep!

After an extra run off a leg side wide brings Marcus Stoinis on strike, the Rockets batter lashes Tom Curran's follow-up out to Jordan Cox at long-off.

He sets off for a second run from the non-striker's end but Cox's throw is like a bullet and clips the top of the bails as Stoinis tries to return to his crease.

The end of a very entertaining eight-ball cameo from George Linde. A thick top edge carries all the way to Jordan Cox near the long-off boundary and Tom Curran strikes.

Coffee Curran to bowl the final five. Tom Curran will be looking to close out without a boundary here before heading off to his coffee van between innings.
