Summary

  1. 200 runs

up for Yorkshirepublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 9 September

    Leics 98 v Yorks 203-7

The visitors take their lead into three figures at Grace Road.

Jonny Tattersall is now 67 not out.

With a bit of support from the lower order, he could take the game beyond Leicestershire if they can work this up to 250.

Some wags will say they have enough already!

  2. 50 runs

50 for Dan Hughespublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 104-0 v Glamorgan 186

    A 91-ball half-century for Dan Hughes.

And what a way to get there, a glorious cover drive to the ropes.

The Australian is in some form. 53, 12, 144, 53*.

  3. wicket

WICKET De Caires LBW b Singh Dale 64published at 17:22 British Summer Time 9 September

    Middlesex 338-7 v Gloucs

Four wickets for Ajeet Singh Dale as Gloucestershire claw back some lost momentum deep in the evening session.

Josh de Caires is stuck on the crease and foxed by a ball that nips into him up the slope, pinning him in front of middle stump.

Another very valuable contribution from the Middlesex lower order.

Middlesex captain Toby Roland-Jones is in next.

  4. 100 runs

100 partnership between Haines and Hughespublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 100-0 v Glamorgan 186

Tom Haines and Dan Hughes are going through the gears and piling on the runs.

The pair put on 196 in Sussex's last home match at Hove, so it is clear they aren't done here.

  5. Postpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 9 September

    Middlesex 337-6 v Gloucs

A tense moment as Luke Hollman is forward to block Ajeet Singh Dale and the ball loops up to a vacant silly point before landing safely.

Hollman plays a flashing drive off the last ball and the ball flies off an edge to third man for one.

Four more to Josh de Caires as Tom Price over pitches and is driven with immaculate poise down to long on.

The shadows are lengthening at Lord's and Middlesex will want to stay out there for as long as possible.

  6. wicket

WICKET: Gregory b Worrall 0published at 17:17 British Summer Time 9 September

    Somerset 311-9 v Surrey

    Another one goes!

    Maximum bowling points for Surrey.

    A beauty from Dan Worrall.

Angled into Lewis Gregory, it squares him up, straightens enough to beat the outside edge and takes out middle and off.

The points system is bonkers when you consider that Surrey (seven wins) have won almost twice as many games as Somerset (four wins) but there is only a 24-point gap between the sides which equates to a win with full bonus points. Surely there needs to be more reward for winning matches?

    Ben, Exeter, via WhatsApp

The points system has been played around with. A draw was reduced to five points from eight last season to promote "attacking" cricket. But it was felt that could promote "result" pitches and not fairly reward a draw, which can often be hard-earned, so it was switched back to eight this season.

Rob Key, England's managing director, has been keen to encourage a longer game on better pitches.

  8. Postpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 9 September

    Durham v Lancs 146-6

Three slips in for Matt Potts and Tom Hartley dabs the ball away through the off side for one.

The fifth ball is short and pulled behind square for one.

Tense times for Lancashire. 19 overs left tonight if the light allows.

  9. wicket

WICKET: Overton st Foakes b Shakib Al Hasan 6published at 17:11 British Summer Time 9 September

    Somerset 311-8 v Surrey

Craig Overton pulls his first ball from Shakib for four.

But then he too has a dance down and a swing.

He also misses and is stumped.

Ended up trying to sweep having taken two steps down the pitch.

    What a bizarre over.

Two very cheap wickets for Surrey and if they can take two more wickets in the next six overs it's their day.

  10. wicket

WICKET Dawson c Stobo b Parkinson 31published at 17:11 British Summer Time 9 September

    Kent v Hampshire 192-6

Matt Parkinson makes things happen and he's picked up Liam Dawson's wicket.

The leggie has found good turn at times this evening and on this occasion he starts it on leg stump, spins it across Dawson and gets a leading edge to first slip.

Kent on the prowl with James Vince and Dawson extracted in quick succession.

  11. wicket

WICKET: Aldridge b Shakib Al Hasan 15published at 17:08 British Summer Time 9 September

    Somerset 305-7 v Surrey

And two balls later Kasey Aldridge runs past one from Shakib Al Hasan!

    That was strange.

Has a charge, a wild hack and misses by miles.

Both ends suddenly open for Surrey.

  12. wicket

WICKET: Banton b Worrall 132published at 17:06 British Summer Time 9 September

    Somerset 305-6 v Surrey

    Oh what a ball!

A back of the hand slower delivery from Dan Worrall.

Tom Banton goes to whack it over the leg side but is through with the stroke too soon and loses his off stump!

It actually spins back like a googly to take the top of off.

Bit of magic from the Australian.

A wonderful innings comes to an end just one run short of his career-best.

Big moment for Surrey. They have have two lower-order batters for the final half hour.

  13. wicket

WICKET Davies c Bracey b Singh Dale 91published at 17:05 British Summer Time 9 September

    Middlesex 327-6 v Gloucs

Out! A maiden century was tantalizingly close for Jack Davies, who is applauded all the way back to the pavilion for a career best 91.

How valuable will these runs be in the final standings?

He drives at a ball from Ajeet Singh Dale that leaves him wide of off stump and he's edged it to keeper James Bracey.

Luke Hollman to bat next - and he's beaten outside off stump to end a dramatic over.

Singh Dale has been warned by the umpires for running in what we call the "danger area" in front of the popping crease at the non-striker's end.

  14. Postpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 84-0 v Glamorgan 186

Tom Haines and Dan Hughes remain untroubled.

They are eating into Glamorgan's effort without chewing, especially now the Kookaburra ball is 20 overs old and unhelpful.

No Mason Crane, who picked up a late injury, so no quality spin option to try out either, just the ambidextrous (or is it amphibious!) Ben Kellaway.

He is mostly tidy in his opening overs before backing it up with a maiden.

  15. Postpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 9 September

    Middlesex 327-5 v Gloucs

Successive boundaries for Josh de Caires as Middlesex accelerate against the second new ball.

The first one is a little lucky, coming from a flashing drive over second slip while rooted to the crease.

But the next scoring shot is a beautifully timed push through cover point.

The day is in danger of getting away from Gloucestershire here.

  16. 300 runs

up for Somersetpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 9 September

    Somerset 303-5 v Surrey

Tom Banton drives a wide full ball from Dan Worrall past extra-cover for four and next ball plays an even better drive between mid-off and extra-cover.

    Shot of the day. Gorgeous.

A second batting point is on the board.

  17. 6 runs

for Essex's Walterpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 205-4 v Notts

With nothing else working to break the Westley-Walter partnership, Notts turn to the spin of Liam Patterson-White.

Walter lofts him back down the ground for four first ball and then follows up with a big six in the same direction two balls later.

  18. wicket

WICKET: Bess b Scriven 33published at 16:58 British Summer Time 9 September

    Leics 98 v Yorks 188-7

Leicestershire trying to stay in the game and they take another wicket.

One keeps low from Tom Scriven and it skuds through Dom Bess and into off stump.

The lead is now approaching three figures and Leicestershire need to get through the lower order quickly.

  19. wicket

WICKET Van Beek c Yates b Hannon-Dalby 16published at 16:53 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcestershire 242-8 v Warwickshire

Worcestershire in danger of missing out on any batting points here as Logan Van Beek edges Olly Hannon-Dalby to Rob Yates at second slip.

A third wicket for OHD. 46 for the season now.

And a third catch of the day for Yates, his 27th successful pouch of the summer.

Red-ball debutant Jack Home comes in for his first bat in first-class cricket.

He's from good Shropshire cricketing stock. His grandfather, father and uncle all played Minor Counties cricket - and sister Milly played for Central Sparks.

  20. wicket

WICKET Balderson c Ackermann b Raine 10published at 16:53 British Summer Time 9 September

    Durham v Lancs 138-6

Ben Raine takes his fourth wicket, drawing George Balderson forward and inducing a loose drive.

The ball is edged and picked up low by Colin Ackermann crouching at second slip.

Lancashire are in a massive pickle.

    Tom Hartley to bat next.
