WICKET Vince c Denly b Parkinson 88published at 16:50 British Summer Time 9 September

    Kent v Hampshire 183-5

My word! What a catch! Joe Denly take a bow, son!

James Vince has hit Matt Parkinson very hard through the covers but Denly has somehow grabbed it.

He's stuck his arms at it while diving and it stays in. Wow.

After three months of injury, we can see what Denly's been working on in his rehab!

A fine innings from Vince ends.

  4. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 9 September

    Leics 98 v Yorks 179-6

Leicestershire just haven't shown enough discipline with the ball to take full advantage of conditions.

And as this Kookaburra softens, runs are coming more easily.

Dom Bess has joined Jonny Tattersall and has quickly struck five boundaries.

Scott Currie has been pulled for four, angled past gully, driven through point and a poor ball flicked to fine leg.

But the shot of the day has come off Chris Wright, whose slightly overpitched delivery was superbly timed through the covers.

Bess held the pose. Yorkshire on top. 22 overs to come.

It's been a quiet resumption at Chelmsford but Nottinghamshire are so close to removing Essex's key man, skipper Tom Westley.

He gets an inside edge on a Rob Lord ball and doesn't have a clue where it's gone - fortunately for Westley, it doesn't hit the stumps.

A single off the next ball brings up the 100 partnership between Westley and Paul Walter, who has also reached his 50 - these two have turned this game around from 86-4.

Lots of talk about the nonsensical wicket in Leicester - but in a tight race at the top, batting points are likely to be important and this wicket is likely to prevent any being earned.

Yorkshire moving into a strong position as their lead goes to 73.

  12. wicket

    WICKET D'Oliveira c Yates b Rhodes 76published at 16:35 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcestershire 235-7 v Warwickshire

Brett D'Oliveira is gone for 76 as he edges Will Rhodes to Rob Yates, tumbling to his left at slip.

Dolly just can't make it to three figures this season.

He has not hit a hundred since the one he got at Headingley last September to help the Pears win promotion.

This was his sixth half-century of the season though - a very worthy effort in such an injury-hampered campaign. And his fourth in successive innings.

  13. Postpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 9 September

    Durham v Lancs 126-5

Ben Raine bowls leg side and Matty Hurst clips the ball fine for four runs.

He sees out the over with a defensive push to mid on.

Callum Parkinson tosses the ball up at first, then tries a quicker ball, which is driven to deep point by George Balderson for two.

He gets one more, pushing to mid on.

Parkinson bowls round the wicket and Hurst defends.

  14. 50 runs

    Sussex 50-0 v Glamorgan 186

    No alarms, no surprises.

Tom Haines and Dan Hughes are making this look a much better pitch to bat on than the Glamorgan batters managed.

An authoritative drive from the Australian takes them to the milestone.

    Somerset 264-5 v Surrey

What a bonus for Surrey to break that stand of 107.

Tom Banton still there on 105.

16 overs left in the day.

  17. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 9 September

    Kent v Hampshire 154-4

    Don't drop James Vince!

Vince goes at a leg clip hard and it is at a catchable for midwicket. But it is spilt.

    A life on 76.

  18. Postpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 9 September

    Durham v Lancs 119-5

Callum Parkinson might be in for a long spell here. The lights have just clicked on.

Matt Potts is bowling for now and Matty Hurst defends resolutely down the ground.

The fifth ball is a bit too full and driven to long on for four.

The ball actually nutmegs Potts on the way past the non striker's end.

Are we allowed to use a footy term here?

Two more to Hurst with a cut past a diving Alex Lees at gully.

A pause in play as it looks like Lees has landed awkwardly.

No. He's fine. Parkinson to continue at the other end.

Credit to Somerset for sticking with Banton after his struggles over the past few years. He could easily have become a white-ball-only player, but instead he's finally showing everyone his ability in first-class cricket.

  20. Postpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 9 September

    Kent v Hampshire 154-4

The boundary options have been shut off by some defensive Kent fields, so the run rate has slowed in the last couple of overs.

Time for Matt Parkinson to have a twirl.

James Vince watches the first loopy ball bounce away from him, but calmly drives into the off side.

Bit of turn to Liam Dawson - who tried to lash it through the covers - and all told just two runs off the over.
