This has been a very expensive over.

  2. Aus 17-1published at 4 overs

That over had a little bit of everything.

A wide, a four, a six, and a run out opportunity as Ravindra Jadeja takes aim at the stumps and narrowly misses as Australia dash through for a single. Travis Head would've been gone if that had hit.

    13 runs off the over.

  3. 6 runs

    Aus 16-1published at 3.4 overs

BOOM! That will settle Australia's nerves. Travis Head heaves Hardik Pandya over deep square leg for six.

Travis Head finally gets a hold of one.

I don't think Shubman Gill moved his feet very well there.

  6. Aus 10-1published at 3.3 overs

Travis Head finally gets one away and Australia have their first boundary. A little bit lazy in the field from Shubman Gill?

That was a horror knock for Cooper Connolly. He played and missed six times before nicking off - that's the most in a sub-10 ball innings since records began (in 2006).

  8. Aus 5-1published at 3.1 overs

Another wide from Hardik Pandya. Please and thank you, say Australia.

A very peculiar, very strange start to this innings. You wouldn't think this surface is possible because it's Australia.

    He's edged it!

India were absolutely convinced that Cooper Connolly got his bat on that. It's a good catch by wicketkeeper KL Rahul, who gets down very low to his left.

Mohammed Shami makes the breakthrough for India. Steve Smith wanders out to bat.

I heard a noise, I think it's hit right at the bottom of the bat.

Has Cooper Connolly got an edge on this? He looks a little guilty.

India are causing some problems for Australia.

It's a funny old watch this.

You've got to put pressure back on the bowlers on a surface like this but you can't be reckless.

  16. Aus 4-0published at 2.5 overs

Swing and a miss. Rinse. Repeat. That's the story of Cooper Connolly versus Mohammed Shami, and the India bowler is very frustrated by this.

It's so unlike Travis Head to be one off nine balls.

  18. Aus 3-0published at 2 overs

The early signs are that this pitch is very slow and Hardik Pandya has already found a bit of movement.

He gets one to nip back in to Travis Head, who swings and misses as he goes for a big pull. KL Rahul is briefly interested in a catch behind the stumps but there's clearly no bat on it.

Already we've seen this surface give something to the bowlers and we've not even seen any spin yet.

The Writing Desk 27: Really looking forward to this. As much as we like upsets, it's the meeting of giants that produces top games (think Djokovic v Nadal). India are strong especially with spin, but I always fancy Australia at the crunch.
