Alice Capsey burst onto the scene and got picked up by many franchises because of her explosive nature and ability to score runs.

Her form has gone down over the past 18 months and she hasn't been able to score as many runs lately. She will also want to work on her fielding and bowling which hasn't really developed.

  3. Eng 147-5published at 30 overs

Alice Capsey comes into this series in a tricky spot. She was dropped for the T20 series in South Africa but was ultimately recalled because of injuries elsewhere.

She managed only eight in her one innings on that tour.

She's made a watchful start here with a couple of Boycottian leaves early on.

Gardner takes two key England wickets

England captain Heather Knight, speaking to TNT Sports: "It's not a straightforward pitch actually, it's a little bit two-paced. There's been some rain around in the last week or so and there's some tackiness in the wicket. We've seen some turn and bounce too.

"I was a little bit frustrated with how I got out - it was too wide to sweep in the end - but that happens. I think the pitch will get slightly better. We've probably had the most movement and hopefully there's a little bit left in it for us when we bowl."

Amy Jones had just swung the momentum. There were those wides by Kim Garth and a misfield from Tahlia McGrath just prior to the wicket.

Now Alice Capsey emerges with a long way to go in the innings.

Another ball with plenty of flight. Amy Jones thought she saw an opportunity but it was well watched by Alana King. Jones never looked comfortable and they have broken her before she got going.

This is why I wanted King to come back on. She creates opportunities.

    Ah.

I was just about to heap the praise onto Amy Jones again as she drives Alana King to the fence but she is dismissed by the very next delivery.

It's a tame one too. Jones has just chipped the ball back to Australia's leg-spinner for a simple return catch.

Kim Garth doesn't have many negatives but one thing is when batters get on top of her, her body language deteriorates massively.

As a fast bowler you have to learn to take a deep breath and not let anything get to you. You need to put all of your effort instead into your next ball.

  10. Eng 140-4published at 28 overs

I say 'frustrating' but England are not out of this, of course.

Amy Jones, in particular, looks to have worked out how to play on this surface.

A streaky four by Danni Wyatt-Hodge to end the over makes it a profitable one for England. 18 from it.

    Four more to Amy Jones!

She is quickly onto this short delivery and slaps it away.

  12. Eng 131-4published at 27.2 overs

The frustrating thing for England is Australia have been by no means perfect here.

Kim Garth drifts down the leg side to gift four wides and goes too full a ball later.

    Amy Jones drives for four.

I'm surprised Alana King hasn't bowled more for Australia. She has been someone who is hard for batters to get away.

She's also someone who every time she bowls a ball, you feel something is going to happen. A similar feeling to what you would feel with Shane Warne back in the day.

That'll make Danni Wyatt-Hodge feel better.

Having swished at three dot balls to start the over, she takes Annabel Sutherland for four off her pads.

It's her first boundary of the innings.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge is sitting back on her bat somewhat and not taking singles when they come on offer to her.

You need to keep rotating the strike to build the partnership and continue accumulating runs.

England are looking to rebuild now. They are struggling to get off strike at the moment but they need to find a way.

They'll want to land some blows on Australia but by doing so, they risk losing more wickets.

Annabel Sutherland drops it in short to Amy Jones, who swivels on her heels and mullers it into the stands. a blond-haired gentleman in a black shirt manages to take the catch without spilling a drop from his canned beverage diving backwards.

    He milks the moment.
