Summary

  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 43.1 overs

Bell b Gardner 1 (Eng 204 all out)

    All out inside 44 overs.

Ash Gardner comes back into the attack and knocks back Lauren Bell's off stump with her first delivery of the spell.

It has been a team effort from Australia. England just gifted too many wickets.

  2. Eng 204-9published at 43 overs

The average of England's final two combined does not make it out of the teens. I wouldn't blame you for having a 45-minute nap.

It's all going to be about whether England can get early wickets.

Lauren Bell is England's number 11...

England are in real danger of being bowled out here. They needed Ecclestone to stay in for a lot longer.

Darcie Brown will be feeling extremely happy.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 42.2 overs

    Ecclestone c Gardner b Brown 16 (Eng 203-9)

    Urgh.

Sophie Ecclestone covers her face with her bat after knocking the simplest of catches to mid-wicket.

The slide has become a slump.

  6. Eng 201-8published at 42 overs

    Lauren Filer!

She already has her highest ODI score after top-edging a four and guiding another fine.

England get to their 200 from an unlikely source.

It's a hammer blow for England. Danni Wyatt-Hodge walks off with her head down. She flicks it round the corner and it goes straight to fine leg. A steady 38 and England needed her to bat through. Australia are into England's tail now.

  8. wicket

    Wyatt-Hodge c Brown b Sutherland 38 (Eng 192-8)

Danni Wyatt-Hodge will not be doing any more to boost the total and it's another soft dismissal.

She has just tried to flick the ball off her pads but a leading edge chips a catch straight to fine leg.

Wyatt-Hodge trudges off shaking her head.

England are heavily reliant on this pair to bat the 50 overs, although Lauren Filer can give it a hit. There's been a couple of soft wickets but Australia have bowled so well, overall.

England are in a hole, but if they can scrap for the last 10 overs they could have something to bowl at. The lowest defended score here (non-DLS matches) is 210, way back in 1988; in more recent times, Australia managed to defend 223 against India back in 2008.

  12. Eng 189-7published at 40 overs

The Aussie commentators on TV, including men's international Mitchell Starc, are already debating Australia's XI for the T20s.

Georgia Wareham can't get into the team currently, only adding more evidence of that impressive depth.

It's a nice problem to have, I guess.

Australia have so many options with the ball. We haven't seen Ellyse Perry today but maybe they see her as predominantly a batter in one-day internationals and will save her bowling for the Test match.

  14. Eng 185-7published at 39 overs

    Wyatt-Hodge 34, Ecclestone 11

Alana King at least had something to think about in that over with Danni Wyatt-Hodge following Ecclestone in attempting to hit over the top.

  15. Eng 180-7published at 38.1 overs

Ecclestone looks better when she's swinging hard.

She plants Alana King back over mid-off for four.

  16. Eng 176-7published at 38 overs

Sophie Ecclestone's first runs come via the outside edge. Her next come from an inside edge.

Megan Schutt is bemused how she has not got a wicket in that over.

  17. dropped catch

Ecclestone dropped on 0published at 37.2 overs

Thick edge - too thick for Alyssa Healy behind the stumps.

Sophie Ecclestone gets away with one early.

If you get yourself in on this pitch and work hard you can cash in. However, it just hasn't worked for England today. It's been poor shot selection.

There's still plenty of overs left for England to bat if they can.

  19. Eng 170-7published at 37 overs

    Wyatt-Hodge 30, Ecclestone 0

Sophie Ecclestone can whack them but she's not the batter you want coming in with 13 overs remaining.

For me, she may as well have a swing because England aren't going to get enough by nudging it around.

It wasn't a great shot by Charlie Dean. Both her feet were facing the bowler which shows how front on she was. It just straightened enough from Alana King. England were in a little bit of a hole, and now they're in a big hole. That target of 250 seems a long way off.
