We'll be back on Sunday at 10:30 BST for day four with England needing 324 more runs to win.

    See you then!

Mohammed Siraj gets batters out. He has got Zak Crawley out with a peach.

I have Siraj right in the mix for player of the series.

    He is a team's dream.

  3. 'We are really confident'published at 19:32 British Summer Time 2 August

India's Yashasvi Jaiswal to Test Match Special: "I enjoyed both the innings. I had to work really hard in my practice session. I was thinking 'one last push'. I'll try my best, and I was enjoying it.

"I think overall, wherever you play it is difficult in England. All the innings I play, I try my best and try to enjoy the innings.

"I need to push, and I need to do well for my team. I was constantly talking to myself and enjoying the pressure.

"Of course, it is going well and, as I have batted a lot, it is not easy on this wicket.

"We are really confident and we will try our best.

"I don't have anything on my mind at the moment. We will try our best and let's see what happens."

  4. 'It's a replay from Headingley'published at 19:30 British Summer Time 2 August

More from England bowler Josh Tongue: "It is a replay from Headingley. I got asked a similar question that game. It will be a great day of cricket tomorrow and a great day for us if we get the runs. It is doing a bit. A few balls tonight jumped off a good length but if you get through the first hour who knows.

"The heavy roller definitely impacted the pitch. We had to work hard to get the wickets today. Hopefully it will flatten it out for us tomorrow.

"The batting line-up we have is unbelievable if we can build partnerships who knows where we might be. Fingers crossed I am not required but if it comes down to me at the end I will give it a good crack."

  5. 'We stuck at it all day'published at 19:29 British Summer Time 2 August

England bowler Josh Tongue, speaking to Test Match Special: "Coming into today we thought if we stacked up enough balls in good areas we would have taken a few wickets. One wicket in the morning but we came back strong after lunch. We stuck at it all day and got our rewards.

"I felt really bad for Wiz [Chris Woakes]. No-one likes to get injured. We stuck as a unit really well. I am glad we are off the pitch.

"It is obviously nice getting five wickets. I had to work hard to get those five. Gus and Jamie bowled well as well. We had to stick in all day."

    Fair credit to Akash Deep.

He is the perfect nightwatchman. Once he survives, he is perfect as he gets the scoreboard ticking along.

He came out and played some nice strokes. He mastered the cover drive to fine leg on a number of occasions.

That opening session, from England's perspective, the bowling attack there was only three of them.

I wonder whether Baz McCullum said to them, 'you better up the ante'.

In the afternoon session there was a bit more intensity and a bit more action on the ball.

That might have been an attitude change from an England perspective.

I don't think England were aggressive enough to unsettle Akash Deep. They expected to get a wicket. An hour later Deep had done the damage.

If Ben Stokes had been out there he wouldn't have let it drift. Sometimes with a nightwatchman you have to be more brutal. You bowl aggressively and a heavy length.

I have to credit the three seamers though. They were slow to get into it but there wasn't anyone moaning. They ran in. Their paces remained up.

Deep and Jaiswal's partnership set it up nicely. The pitch eased out so India needed more than they were expecting last evening.

The wicket of Crawley will be such a 'feel-good' wicket. Chris Woakes might come out to bat but if not it is only eight wickets they need.

India had that lurking square leg to Ben Duckett. They have worked out that if you stop the boundaries, you mount the pressure on him and Duckett.

Credit to Gill and the India management because it looks quite defensive.

It is a reminder that at this level it is brutal.

You go over the last week or so, Zak Crawley got an 84 at Old Trafford.

He got a good 60-odd in the first innings, then he goes into the field and drops two catches and then he gets 14.

That is the rollercoaster side, which I guess is Zak's career.

Mohammed Siraj is a real athlete. To have that energy like he still has is a credit to him. He has put in some serious hard yards to be able to do that.

Infuriatingly brilliant ball from Siraj. To pull that out at the end of the day is really special.

But after Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley chipped 50 runs off England's target of 374, how crucial will this intervention from Mohammed Siraj prove to be?

Pace trio Gus Atkinson, Josh Tongue, and Jamie Overton bowled all but nine overs in India's second innings and shared the 10 wickets.

Tongue finished with 5-125 from his 30 overs.

Having set England a target of 374 and then broken the first-wicket partnership as the close of play loomed, India will he happy with their day's work.

They were 75-2 overnight and went on to post 396 in their second innings.

How good was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who top-scored with 118 (164)?

That happened to me at Kent against Rabada. The yorker is the last ball you are expecting. You know when a batter has been deceived because you end up in an awkward position. It was a total surprise ball.

England needed a really good start to dent India's confidence. They would have had elements of that in those 13 overs but that wicket will allay all of those fears.

It was a really big wicket and India deserve it.

A good ball and a good yorker. The square leg going back and Zak Crawley was expecting the bouncer.

It is a brilliant ball and a perfect end to a really good end for India.

If there is any side that can chase down this target it is this England side as they have done it before.

  20. Close - Eng 50-1published at 13.5 overs

England need 324 runs to win

And that's the final act of day three.

England will resume on 50-1, needing 324 runs to win the fifth Test.

Ben Duckett is not out on 34 (48). Mohammed Siraj will start the day with the final ball of the 14th over.

Not the end to the day that England would have wanted...
