Will England rue six dropped catches in India's second innings?

  1. Ind 79-2published at 18.2 overs

Akash Deep whacks the second ball of Jacob Bethell's spin for four over the leg side. He's not going to let the youngster bowl to him.

This may just be for England's quicks to switch ends, of course.

    Series-defining day.

After five Test matches, we are still coming down to the final Test match.

Whoever is going to win this session is either going to win or draw the series.

Jaiswal gets underneath Overton bouncer to hit six over third man

Yashasvi Jaiswal, for India, is the one batsman who will look to take on the scoring and the other batters will soak up pressure.

For England, it is going to be those three seamers and how Ollie Pope rotates them well enough.

One thing England cannot do is drop as many catches as they did last night. They dropped three in the 18 overs we had.

Remember Chris Woakes will not bowl today either because of his shoulder injury. England are a man down.

The areas Prasidh Krishna bowled were a lot more consistent.

Yesterday was the reason why he has been back so much. He has got a really good release and he gets a lot of back spin on the ball.

I had a dream last night England were set a target of 177. I've never displayed any psychic behaviour before but I'd take that.

This game could end today if it goes on with the pace that it did yesterday. I don't think it is going to do that, but make sure you stick with us because it could do!

A reminder for anyone that needs it.

India must win this match to draw the series. England would still win the series if they draw here.

There is rain forecast for Sunday afternoon and Monday.

  12. 'England did not take their opportunity'published at 10:46 British Summer Time

No side has been able to nail their position down. England were 90-0 off 12 overs.

They were only 150-odd behind, for them only to get a 30-run lead - they did not take their opportunity.

  13. India had plan to disrupt Root, says Krishnapublished at 10:42 British Summer Time

'Not often you see Root lose his temper' - tensions begin to simmer on day two

There was plenty more needle yesterday between two teams that seem tired of each other at the end of a tight-five match series.

India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna says it was a deliberate tactic to try and disrupt Joe Root when the pair were involved in a heated exchange.

Root appeared to be particularly angered by what Krishna said to him.

"I don't know why Rooty [reacted]," he told the BBC.

"I just said, 'you're looking in great shape' and then it turned into a lot of abuse and all of that."

Much of the talk is about how many India need in this third innings to be confident of having enough to deny England in a chase.

Of course these were all on different days and different pitches - this surface has been spicier than most - but the recent fourth-innings scores here suggest runs can be made.

Those in bold are totals in defeats rather than successful chases but still sizeable scores.

This Test, as with the rest of the series, has swung one way and the other.

They will resume at 11:00 BST on 75-2 in their second innings, leading by 52.
