Can someone please explain why you have to manage the workload of someone who will only bowl four overs maximum? If you can’t bowl four overs, you’re not fit enough to play!

So, a few of you lovely folk were texting in before the rain interrupted with some constructive points so let's try to work through some of those while we wait for the rain to relent in Gros Islet.

We'll see where the conversation takes us before I not-so-subtly steer it on to my favourite subject: cricket in obscure and offbeat locations.

    Hmmm. It's a bit wet!

As the rain continues to fall in St Lucia, I'm going to take a breather (I know, those five overs were exhausting!) and leave you in the hands of Timothy Abraham.

It's a bit like a rite of passage to live text rain delays. Be nice to him.

Here's the forecast for the next few hours. Hopefully it's just a few passing showers.

The ground staff continue to work diligently on the outfield but there are big puddles forming on those covers now, which are spanning the entire pitch.

It's still raining persistently and doesn't look like there will be a restart any time soon - but we'll keep you updated as soon as there is any news.

It's the third game on this pitch and it didn’t look to be coming on as nicely. The shots needed to cross the boundary appeared to require a bit more muscle and graft.

    Bad news.

It is absolutely hammering down in St Lucia.

Where do you bowl to Evin Lewis? The black dots are balls which went for four on this tour (combined T20 and ODIs) with the green dots going for six. It feels like if you bowl in line with the stumps, you're going the distance.

    WI 44-0

Just as West Indies seem to be getting into their groove, the rain begins to fall and the players make way for the covers.

  11. WI 44-0published at 5 overs

Evin Lewis is into his groove now!

He drills four more past mid-on before John Turner responds in typical fast bowler fashion. Lewis is struck on the helmet, and gets some treatment but is thankfully up and about.

    WI 38-0published at 4.3 overs

More gorgeous timing from Shai Hope, with an effortless whip through mid-wicket for four off John Turner.

    And wow!

It's followed by Evin Lewis' contrasting but equally effective style, of simply clearing the front leg and launching the ball over the leg side for six.

Why are England winning the toss and bowling first? Proven many times that we need to work on batting first and setting/defending a score. An end-of-series dead rubber seems the perfect opportunity to do that.

It's fair to say Jofra Archer has been slightly unlucky with the new ball in this T20I series. He's forced a false shot with 34% of his powerplay deliveries with only two wickets to show for it.

Saqib Mahmood has only a slightly higher false shot rate (40%) yet has picked up eight powerplay wickets.

  15. WI 28-0published at 4 overs

Jamie Overton's selection yesterday caused some confusion, as he batting eight (but didn't get in) and then didn't bowl because of workload management.

Tonight he gets a go, and starts well with a couple of dots before Evin Lewis heaves a good-length delivery over mid-on for four more.

Sam Curran then pulls off a stunning bit of work on the boundary to prevent three runs, relaying with Jacob Bethell, but that is some lazy running from the batters as they assume it's going for four and only run a single.

Jofra Archer is one of those bowlers who has perfected that unconvincing smile and laugh, which looks every bit of a man in acute pain, when an uncontrolled skier lands safely inside or outside the boundary.

Tonight could be interesting. Last night was crazy and I think tonight could be another run fest.

Another boundary to Shai Hope, but without his usual sparkling elegance this time.

He gets in a bit of a tangle to a shorter delivery from Archer, and gets lucky with a top edge that flies down to fine leg for four.

  19. 6 runs

    WI 18-0published at 2.1 overs

Jofra Archer sticks with his plan of bowling back of a length but it's become quite predictable.

Evin Lewis rocks back, and slams it into the leg side for the first six of the evening.

Different circumstances tonight, with West Indies not chasing a big score, but still John Turner looks more settled here and came back OK last night.
