  • England win series 3-1

  1. WI 12-0published at 2 overs

    Shai Hope is a delight.

He unveils a glorious cover drive for his first boundary of the evening off seamer John Turner.

Hampshire's Turner made his T20 debut last night, and at 23, I think he's the youngest John that I'm aware of.

For a number of years West Indies have backloaded their innings and backed themselves to get 100 or 110 in the last 10 overs, even if we aren't always as good in the middle overs or the powerplay. This series has put things into perspective.

If you have to get a target, or set a target, the best way for West Indies to go about that is to have a good powerplay, be really disciplined, give yourselves some time and then finish the powerplay well, take that momentum through the middle then finish well as they always do.

  6. WI 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Jofra Archer starts with a dot ball, safely prodded up to mid-off by Lewis.

    Right, let's get going!

England are without Saqib Mahmood, their best seamer of the tour so far, but Jofra Archer is back with ball in hand after a rest last night.

Evin Lewis and Shai Hope added a whopping 136 in just nine overs for the opening stand yesterday, just saying...

England and West Indies are set to face off for the 35th time in T20I cricket this evening - in the history of T20I cricket the only fixture to have been played more frequently is New Zealand vs Pakistan (44 matches).

England all-rounder Jamie Overton, speaking to TNT Sports: "The management of the body is going well. The plan wasn't necessarily to play all the games, but bowl whenever I can. I think the back-to-back games were the ones we were a little bit worried about. Well, not worried, but just didn't want to bowl back-to-back days. Yesterday was a day off and then I'll bowl today. This tour has been a nice way back into it.

"The plan wasn't to bowl in the 50-over game so it was nice to get some overs in that last ODI and then back to feeling like I am playing a full role in the T20s. It's a good stepping stone to the start of the winter."

On the frustration of not bowling in games where he felt he probably could: "Yes, it is a little bit frustrating. It got to the point yesterday where I was like 'Jos, do you want me to put my bowling boots on and have a bowl?' but it didn't really get to it. I think it is frustrating but nice to be involved in games, and contribute with the bat and the field."

Similar role to Andre Russell: "It's a great comparison! If I can do anything like what he has achieved I'll be very happy. He is one of the best T20 cricketers ever. So if I can achieve half of what he has I'll be very happy."

It would have been tempting for England to bat first and try to hit West Indies out of the game, so I'm glad they haven't done that to see if there are some learnings. Ultimately it is about winning for England. They have to avoid the likes of Liam Livingstone going for thirty odd like yesterday, you have to minimise those.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell: "I think it's a case of following the template yesterday. That was very good for us and today provides another opportunity to do that.

"I think when it's a case of batting first you have to bat good. It's a good opportunity to do that and the guys are upbeat. It's a chance for us to set wrong what we did the in the earlier games right.

"Picking five bowlers? To be honest it's been five long games and there is wear and tear. Every game we have guys pulling up with little niggles. So that's something we have to keep monitoring. When guys have niggles you have to change the combinations.

"It's important to finish 3-2. It's a Sunday and people in the Caribbean are normally home, sitting down and hoping the West Indies play good. Today is a day we are looking to put smiles on the faces of the people in the Caribbean."

England captain Jos Buttler: "It was a very good wicket last night so we want to chase and make the most of it.

"We've got Adil Rashid and Jofra Archer coming in for Dan Mousley and Saqib Mahmood.

"It was a fantastic match, very high-scoring and exciting, didn't get the win but we will hopefully be on the right side of the result today. We fought our way back into the game well in the end, but we'll be looking to set the tone earlier with the ball."

  14. England win the toss and bowlpublished at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November

Surprise surprise, Jos Buttler chooses to bowl first.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell gives a wry smile as he loses his fourth toss out of five, and England have the advantage of chasing on a belting pitch as we saw last night.

    Good evening!

No, we're not going to talk about the rugby - let's just focus on the fifth and final T20 that's coming up shortly. West Indies got a consolation win last night in a high-scoring thriller as they sensationally chased down 218 to leave the series 3-1 in England's favour.

Team news and the toss is coming up next.
