  1. NZ 40-0published at 8.3 overs

Just a four-over opening spell today for Jofra Archer, who is replaced by Jamie Overton.

  2. NZ 40-0published at 8 overs

    Target 223

Glorious from Rachin Ravindra. First a pull and then a flick off the hip.

Brydon Carse, who has had a decent trip so far, struggling to stop the flow of runs here.

England were four down by this stage, if you're just joining us.

  3. NZ 31-0published at 7 overs

It's a great tussle, this. Archer goes short again as Devon Conway, perhaps unwisely, walks towards him. He'll be able to sniff the ball as it goes past his grille.

Devon Conway is looking unsettled by Archer’s pace here. Across his career, his average dips sharply against balls delivered at over 140kph (28 - 4 dismissals) compared to balls between 130-140kph where he averages 60 (7 dismissals).

  5. NZ 30-0published at 6 overs

That extra pace costs Brydon Carse as a top edge from Ravindra flies over Buttler for four. There is nothing wrong with the shot later in the over, however, as the elegant left-hander takes four through point.

With the first five overs done, England’s seamers haven’t found as much movement as the Kiwis had by the same stage, but are bowling considerably faster on average:

    • New Zealand average speed: 82.8 mph
    • England average speed: 86.4 mph
  7. NZ 22-0published at 5 overs

Need 201 more runs to win

A rapid delivery from Jofra Archer flies through in front of Devon Conway's nose and has Jos Buttler catching it by his ear. Archer follows up with another bouncer clocked at 90.5mph, which Conway evades while turning his head.

    Proper wheels from Archer.

  8. NZ 21-0published at 4 overs

    Target 223

It was a 273-run partnership between Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra that powered New Zealand to victory against England at the start of the 2023 World Cup. England have tried plenty since and little has worked.

Ravindra plays a flowing drive for four off Brydon Carse here that is reminiscent of that Ahmedabad knock.

  9. NZ 15-0published at 3 overs

    Conway 13, Ravindra 2

Oh no. It seems Adil Rashid has let one through his legs while backing up to concede four overthrows. I'd love to tell you more but it was so inexplicable the cameras were all looking the other way.

Harry Brook is seeing the funny side.

I can think of a few England captains - I'm looking at you Nasser Hussain - whose reaction may have been different.

    NZ 8-0published at 2.1 overs

    Wowee, this is a shot.

Devon Conway pumps Jofra Archer over extra cover for six.

  11. NZ 2-0published at 2 overs

    Conway 1, Ravindra 1

Devon Conway gets a little fortunate and England unfortunate when the ball loops up off the left-hander's glove and within an inch of leg stump. The England fielders gasp and groan, having thrown their arms in the air in anticipation.

    When it's not your trip...

  12. NZ 1-0published at 1.3 overs

Did they put something in those Wellington pies I recommended, Oli?

A drive from Rachin Ravindra gets the New Zealand ball rolling.

England defend this comfortably, mark my words.

    Oli, over-confident at Sky Stadium

  14. NZ 0-0published at 1 over

    Target 223

Jofra Archer picks up where he left off the other day. After 51 dot balls and four maiden overs in Hamilton, he starts with another run-less over here.

WinViz gives New Zealand a 69% chance at the start of this chase. Jamie Overton has given England an outside chance but remember the boundaries are small. If you have a platform then scoring quickly should be possible.

  17. NZ 0-0published at 04:40 GMT

    Target 223

There's plenty of high fives among the England fielders as they wander out. New Zealand have two left-handed openers today with Devon Conway having returned to the XI.

You know how Jofra Archer loves bowling at left-handers...

  18. Postpublished at 04:38 GMT

I can see the thinking here, Nathan, but not sure it would have made that much of a difference given how quickly England's top-order wickets have fallen.

Right, I'm going to grab a coffee. Full of perk is Matthew Henry who will talk you through the first part of New Zealand's chase.

England need to find a new number three and move Joe Root down to four.

At least England's bowlers have some sort of total to defend here.

That did not look likely after a top-order collapse left them 44-5 after 10.1 overs. It was a bit of procession at times.
