Mitchell Santner's teasing line, wide of off stump finished first-innings proceedings. The average width of the New Zealand skipper's deliveries today was 45cm (from middle stump). This is the widest he has bowled in any single match in his ODI career.

England are all out for twotwotwo.

New Zealand require 223 for victory and a series whitewash.

Jamie Overton's big-hitting entertainment is brought to a halt.

Mitchell Santner dangles the carrot to the England all-rounder with a delivery tossed up outside off stump and he bites.

Overton ends up stretching to get to the ball and hits it high into the off side where Will Young is stationed to take the catch.

I think it's probably crossed the minds of anyone who has watched this ODI series, Andy.

Jamie Overton slaps Blair Tickner high into the off side but the ball plugs safe in shaded part of the ground in Wellington.

Later in the over he muscles a four down the ground before pulling a long hop into the yellow seats for six. Power and timing.

Overton pinches a single to keep the strike. He now has 68 off 60 balls.

Never thought I'd say this but quite sad that Jamie Overton has retired from red-ball cricket. Would have been very handy to have in the Ashes this year.

There's an element of the local blacksmith about Jamie Overton.

See ball, hit ball, again from the all-rounder midway through the over as he drives Jacob Duffy through the covers for four.

Minimal fuss in that shot but superbly executed.

My teenage son tells me I'm old fashioned and how the game's changed. Since my day...well even now I'd say giving yourself half a chance to bat a long time has some merit.

It would be really nice, from an England perspective, to see a last-wicket partnership that goes another 10 overs or so here. Bit of character.

Fifty for Overtonpublished at 37.4 overs

Jamie Overton pitter patters his feet down the pitch and then whips Blair Tickner for four through mid-wicket.

Next ball he heaves a slower ball from outside stump from the Kiwi seamer across the line for another boundary.

A maiden ODI half-century - off exactly 50 balls - for the burly England all-rounder.

Jamie Overton does not have a half-century in List A cricket, either.

Something for us to cling to as the clock ticks towards 4am in the UK. 'I was there when...'

Jamie Overton’s three highest ODI scores in his 10-match career have all come in this series:

    1st ODI = 46,

    2nd ODI = 42,

    3rd ODI currently 42*.

Crunch! Jamie Overton backs away to leg and then heaves Jacob Duffy for four towards cow corner. He got plenty of bat on that.

England can win this game, all depends on the new-ball spell.

    Archer c Bracewell b Tickner 16 (Eng 186-9)

Jofra Archer does not time this one, however...

A bit of a filthy bottom-handed slog across the line to Blair Tickner which he ends up clothing high off the bat to Michael Bracewell.

He's on his way. England nine down.

I see lots of comments that England side knows only one way of playing. It masks the underlying issue, which is hardly anyone has displayed the skill or temperament to defend. See the first ball that Harry Brook played! Is it the stroke for that situation?

Jamie Overton looks to pull Blair Tickner but ends up somehow whacking the ball into himself. The physio is on so we have a short delay while he receives some treatment.

  18. Eng 179-8published at 35 overs

Jofra Archer is hit high on the pad by the second-to-last ball of Jacob Duffy's over. Is this worth a review? Mitchell Santner declines.

It's a wise move as TV replays show a chunky inside edge on it.

Archer rocks on to the back foot and clinically cuts Duffy's next ball for four following a misfield down at third. Nicely played by Archer, though.

  20. dropped catch

Archer dropped on threepublished at 34 overs

Jamie Overton squirts a cut off Blair Tickner for four through the vacant third region.

A leading edge of Jofra Archer's bat at the end of the over is spilled by the diving Devon Conway at point. That would have been some take.

England's players chat among themselves in the dug out.
